Which port orleans question

Well, what size is your party? How old is everyone? Any special needs? First timers? Experienced Disney goers? It really does make a difference.

POFQ is much smaller than POR. Both are different in many ways but are both fun and pleasant. POR is beautiful but pretty large. POR has a childrens pirate adventure that my son still raves about from August and cannot wait to go back to. POFQ is fun, too and has a great slide in their pool but POR does have a great pool, too with breathtaking lake views. More info from you would help my response a bit more but you can't go wrong with either.:)

I absolutely adore FQ. I love how its so small and easy to navigate. There's not really a bad building among them... it's a short walk to the front no matter where you stay! The food court there is awesome... and I know I say it all the time but YUM VANILLA COKE IN THE FOUNTAIN!!!! :slurp:

We've never stayed at either because we are perfectly content at the Coronado. We have visited all of the moderates and eaten at all of them, walked the grounds, etc. We keep saying that one of these days we are going to try POFQ--probably a split stay with the CSR. We did not care for the themeing at POR at all; did not like Boatwright's for dinner (although we are going for breakfast next year because my husband insists on trying the sweet potato pancakes (ugh). POR to us was very noisy and crowded. POFQ is very compact and seemed very peaceful to us.

We are going to be staying at Riverside in 2 weeks, so can't review it for you yet. We are a party of 6, but 2 are crib sleepers and the other will be on a child's trundle bed.

Honestly it is about a wash. FQ is a little smaller, a little more quaint but lacks a TS restaurant and can feel really small. RS has a great TS restaurant, Yee Haw Bob, multiple pools and IMHO a little bit more inversive theming but has multiple bus stops and you can have a long walk to the food court.

My advice...Flip a coin and stay at one this trip and the next on the next trip. I doubt you will be unhappy at either.

FQ just because its quieter and more relaxed. Some of the bigger resorts seem so busy with people coming and going. The parks are crowded enough, why deal with that at your hotel.

I've stayed at both Riverside and French Quarter (Riverside - Bayou section in May 2007, and FQ Sept 2008).

I liked both resorts, almost equally. I would say French Quarter wins out a little, only because of its smaller size and one bus stop. Riverside does have a nicer pool area, and the additional quiet pools.

Theme wise, they are different, but both feature lush greenery. Since Riverside is larger, there is more to see (like the waterwheel outside the food court).

I would look at it this way: If you plan on spending the majority of your time away from the resort, then go with French Quarter. If you plan on spending a decent amount of time at the resort (beyond a quick lunch or occasional swim) then go with Riverside.

Of course, since they are only a short walk apart on the path along the river, you can always visit the the other resort with out too much trouble.

Enjoy your trip!

We stayed at POR last year (not much choice since we're a family of 5 and not rolling in dough). We had to walk through FQ once because weather diverted our boat ride to DTD... I thought FQ seemed pretty neat, and smaller isn't bad if you have 3 small kids. Personally, I would try FQ if our family could fit in a room there... We were in building 17 at POR... seemed like everything was a mile away (might as well skip the refilable mug when it's 20 minutes round trip to the mug filler).

POFQ...LOVE IT!!! We'll be on our 4th stay there in just 2 more weeks! The size of you party is an issue but we are only 3 so that hasn't been an issue for us. The small size of the resort is great (haven't had a bad view or walking distance yet) and if the bus routes are still the same the park buses pick up and drop off in FQ 1st so, yeah you have to sit through 3 or 4 stops in Riverside but chances are you'll be sitting and leaving the park you get off 1st. I think DTD runs the opposite way.
Plus, we honeymooned in New Orleans so we always gravitated to that scenery stlye. :)

Having stayed at both, my vote is for POFQ....................theming at POR is great, as is a table service restaurant.........but the bus issues and large layout is a detractor. At POFQ everything is close and the buses come frequently.

OK, I am bias, I love Riverside!!!!!!! We stayed there on our Disneymoon, and are coming back in January for our 5 year anniversary!!! Riverside just seems a little more relaxing, especially after a long day at the park!

We'll probably go back to POFQ next time just for variety. I prefer it to POR. But Coronado is terrific, especially now that it has queen-size beds. I'd recommend it over any other moderate, especially for anyone on the dining plan.

WE stayed at Riverside Nov.8-15 this year-WE LOVED IT!!!! We went over to FQ for breakfast one morning and it was noisy and a zoo. My son, husband and I were not impressed. At Riverside our breakfasts were much quieter as there is much more room for families to spread out. We loved our quiet private pool by Magnolia bend. My son did the hot chocolate test and Riverside won hands down. Yes, Boatwrights is average but the counter service food is really good. My son, who has never seen New Orleans thought the decorations throughout were weird. We think that Riverside is awesome and would stay there again. I can understand why there are so many loyal Riversiders!!!!:xmas:
