Which parade replaces the Main Street Electrical Parade in Disneyworld?

I can assure you ticket prices have risen far more than the cost of staging a parade.

Put another way. They can more than afford it.

Actually I doubt it.... 10 years ago the 1 day MK ticket was $71 today it is $101 and increase of 42%.... minimum wage 10 years ago was $5.85 vs today's $8.10 an increase of 38% though that leaves out the other increases in costs associate with labor, the affordable care act pushed costs significantly higher for the employer paid insurance.... So honestly I can see how the price increase for the tickets has pretty much been on pace with a lot of the costs involved in putting the parades on.

And in 2001 a one day ticket was $46. For that you got 3 daytime parades, a night parade (or two), and Fanatsmic. And 3 full firework shows too of course.

Remember many of the parade performers do duel shows too.

Minimum was was $5.15 in 2001.

Parks and resorts made nearly $15 billion revenue in 2013/14. $30 million for a new night parade would be a drop in the ocean.

Actually it was $48 in 2001, $46 was 2000.... And you can try and cherry pick days all you want... In fact why not go back to 1971 if you want to since then the price was only $3.50.... I just went back 10 years because when you start going back 15, 20 or more you are no longer comparing apples to apples. How many e-ticket rides did they have in 2001? I don't know and I'm not going to waste time trying to figure that one out, the point is that prices have gone up and the prices of tickets hasn't gone up astronomically compared to those costs in the past 10 years. Oh and I'm not sure which Magic Kingdom you've been going to, but the one in Orlando has never had Fantasmic that one has always been at Studios.

If you think about it parades are very expensive and getting more expensive over time. Minimum wage has increased over $2/hour over the past 10 years. All those people on the floats aren't cheap and when you have a parade you can't just have them come in for 30 minutes of work.... I can see how the cost of a parade has gone up quite a bit over time.... Then when you look at a night time parades they probably tend to have more lights which means more maintenance costs. Not that I'm anti-parade... but I kind of think they stopped being special when they started having so darned many of them.... one parade a day be it day or night makes the parade more special, but having 3 or 4 per day was overkill and that's kind of what it seemed like at times in the past.

California's minimum wage is much higher than Florida ($10.50) and Disneyland doesn't seem to suffer the same problem that WDW has with parades. Also the number of entertainment options with live performers at Disneyland dwarfs those at WDW.

Not cherry picking. Just stating facts.

And also showing how much more entertainment was available for less money back then property wide (I'm not daft enough to say Fantasmic is in the MK in Orlando)

Oh, and for the first 8 days of 2001 a ticket was $46. Keep defending all you like. They can afford a new parade.

Actually you did bring Fantasmic into the conversation... and if you want to claim you aren't cherry picking do so, oh the first 8 days of 2001 were $46.

Sorry you can't deal with reason, but that's your problem not mine.

I don't have a problem. You're the one getting your knickers in a twist. And read my post about Fantasmic again. It's not difficult. I didn't say it was in the MK.

But I will give you my mistake in not posting the main 2001 ticket price. That was a mid read list on my part.

Feel free to clog the forum up even more with your defending. I'm not.

For purist humor I believe Walt called it EPCOT and Card Walker called it "Seriously Walt how are we going to make money without a theme park?"
No, Epcot was to be part of Disneyworld. EPCOT was a city within Disneyworld. The theme park was pretty much insisted upon by the financial backers for the same reason. Card may or may not have also mentioned it, but, it was all one big thing with the main dream being EPCOT, however, financed by the theme park and corporations. There are films with Walt himself calling it Disneyworld, there is no known clearly documented proof that Card Walker ever saying anything like that. Possible, of course, but, I'll go with the films. If you want to carry it strictly to the letter, I believe Walt was also quoted of calling it "The Florida Project", so take your pick.

I was more going for hyperbole based on Danny Kaye's description of the property in the EPCOT opening day film. Specifically that's it's "2.5 miles from the magic kingdom, which is also part of EPCOT, which is what the entire 27,000 acre area, known as the experimental prototype community of tomorrow or EPCOT or Walt Disney World is called, just so there's no confusion." and that since Card was COO when the project was in development and then CEO when Epcot Center was in development that he would be feeling the pressure from the financial backers. As far as carrying it strictly to the letter, that helps a lot with the "purist" half but not a whole lot with the "humor" half of "purist humor".

I think Iger is looking for a bonus and is only in it to make all he can until he retires, he has no interest in us or the parks, just the money and I can't wait to see him go.

I first went to WDW in 2012. I remember seeing parades at all of the parks except Epcot. There were two at MK (including MSEP). Have costs risen so much in the last 5 years that WDW can now only afford 1 parade throughout all 4 parks?

Speaking of affordability light parades I would perform, operate or drive a unit for a night parade for minimum wage easily, first of all I love the light parades to no end, I have a day job, it's a fun and easy way to make some extra play money and get out of the house in the evening. It can't be hard to get a cheap staff. If Spectromagic a few nights got my car payment out of the way I'd be all over that plus it's a free drive thru the magic kingdom.

NOTHING.

I mean, the closest you can get is doing like I did trying to get up Main Street USA a week ago and do mad jazz hands to the max while weaving through the crowds during the trolley show. Or just close your eyes (for the illusion of night) while you shake your rear to the 500 showings of the pathetic "Move It Shake It..." parade. :hilarious:

I'm curious the fate of Paint the Night in DL if the Electrical Parade is moving there. Is Paint the Night moving overseas? I was holding out hope that something would be at WDW in July.

Wait until after MSEP ends in June to see if PTN returns.
