Yes, anyone can visit any of the resorts, and it's a fun way to spend an afternoon. You could take a bus over to MK, then catch the monorail to visit the Contemporay, the Poly, or the GF, or take the boat over to WL or Fort Wilderness. To get to the other resorts, take a bus to any of the parks, then switch busses to the resort you want to see. Hope this helps.

You can visit any Resort and use any restaurant that you wish. You cannot use the pools (and spas), but can wander around the resorts and grounds to soak up the atmosphere. Its one of the things I like to do so I can get a feel for where I want to stay next.

Coordinating the transportation may take some work, but it can be done.

If you're driving on your own, you can just tell the security officer you'd like to check out the hotel and have a look-see. They'll probably write down your license plate #, and possibly look at your drivers license, but I've never had a problem getting into any resort this way.

Then, you can sneak into their pools...
I'm kidding of course....... you shouldn't even need to sneak.

Kidding again! Don't flame me. (I don't use pools, have I made that clear?) :lookaroun

I think the only hotel that may required some sort of advance dinner reservation to enter is Animal Kingdom Lodge. Because of its popularity and newness, they had to limit hotel hoppers from hanging around.

I don't know if they are as strict during the off-season, or whether they even restrict people at all these days.

I personally have never been turned away at AKL, not from Day 1. I just tell security we're going in to have a look around, and they simply smile and say right for valet, left for self.

In fact, I've been turned away exactly twice at any Disney property over dozens of years. Once on Christmas day at WL.

Then at about 2 pm on Christmas Eve at GF - but upon checking again at around 7 pm, security CM simply directed us to self parking.

The heavy duty parking restrictions at Resorts often discussed on boards is mostly myth.

If you use Disney transportation, you will have no trouble going to any resort. It's possible that people using their own cars may be turned away because of limited parking at the time.

In June 2002 we stayed at "All star Sports" so we stopped by all the "All star" resorts to see what they all looked like. Once I saw "All Star Movies" I really loved it. I really want to see or stay in "Contemporary" up close.

as people are saying you can visit any resort -thats what im looking forward to doing- im going to fort.wilderness on christmas eve because im going on a carriage ride and im totally looking forward to it. when i stayed in all star sports (fantastic) i visited my hotel for december pop century and the atmosphere there was buzzing it was fab. i bought a tye-dyed cheesecake from that resort and took it back to my hotel. when you visit all the other hotels you see all the different themes and the atmosphere is always amazing. everywhere is different so explore.

74 days left :xmas: :sohappy: !

out of all the pictures i have seen of the resorts i have always wanted to stay at the polynesian because it looks really relaxing and ive always loved the hawaii feel to it. so when im there in december 2005 that is one of the first resorts that i am going to visit.

Why cant you use the other pools? :lookaroun

Well, you're not *supposed* to pool hop (unless you're DVC members :), but there are even restrictions on that), but there's nothing expressly prohibiting it. However, if the pools are full or near-capacity, staff can ask for your room key to prove that you are staying at the resort in question. If you aren't staying at, say, the Contemporary, and are using a pool there, they reserve the right to boot you.

Initial queston: There is no restriction on visiting other resorts. The easiest way is by car. But if you want to just see a few, then I would suggest setting aside several hours and taking the bus system.

we had breakfast at the contemperory (sp?) and they restricted us to a 3 hr parking -- so we had to re-park at the ttc before we could finally go to the mk for the day -- that kinda stunk. but at the poly-- we have never had an issue parking..

Visiting the other resorts is one of my favorite things to do when we have a little extra time.

The ones I've enjoyed the most are Animal Kingdom Lodge, Fort Wilderness, and the Boardwalk. And the monorail loop is always a must!

There are signs up at all of the resort pools I've been to that say something like "Pool use for [resort name here] Resort guests only", or something of that nature.

Everytime I drove to another resort during my last stay the security guard just looked at my parking pass from my own resort and waved me through saying "have a nice visit!"

I have seen lifeguards check Resort ID's even when the pool is almost empty and I have seen people escorted off of the Resort proper because they were not staying there and trying to use the pool.

Rules are made for a reason and as a guest you agree to follow them. Disney reserves the right to remove you from the premises if you do not.

We are going Dec. 3-10th. Here is my question..... a lot of the resorts have activities in the evenings, cookie decorating, ceremonies, etc. Can we attend their activities or do we have to be staying at their hotel?

I noticed that the Dolphin hotel has fun stuff every night, I think AK does too.

THanks

The *temporary* parking passes they hand out at the resorts kill me. Everytime we (used) to go to OHana, they would give us a 2 hour parking pass... 2 hours???? By the time you actually find a place to park at the Polynesian, go inside, wait for your priority seating arrangment to be called, and then eat, 2 hours has long since passed. Fortunately, we have never had the car towed or been given any grief about staying beyond the 2 hours. (We don't frequent OHana anymore since they changed the menu.. IMO I found the changes to be a big disappointment)
