Which Disney Resort for couples without kids?

Which resort would you recommend for a couple without kids? We've been to WDW about 5 times in the last 5 years. We have no children, love all the parks, especially the more thrilling stuff, and generally just go nuts ending each park day with a nice dinner and some more fun at PI. We wonder if there's a Disney Resort that typically has less small children? Any suggestions?(We are not knocking kids so don't be offended-Heck..It's Disney World!)

We go about 3-4 times a year without kids and we love the following resorts:

1. Beach Club
2. Contemporary
3. Port Orleans- Riverside

Typically there seems to be less kids or shall I say less groups of kids. Stay away from the value resorts that cater to larger families and school groups!! The deluxe resorts are more of a real hotel with all the room access inside the hotel so there is less banging of doors and generally less noise.

Have fun!! We have to wait another month!!

When we stayed at Coronado Springs there were not many kids at all. I think it caters more to conventioneers so there are bound to be less kids.

My wife and I are also childless and have stayed at both Coronado Springs and Animal Kingdom Lodge. We particularly liked AKL. Sure there are kids there, but where can you go in Disney (aside from a bar) where there aren't kids? :animwink:

The main positives about AKL is that it has a very peaceful, serene atmosphere and since the restaurants are as "kid friendly" as other places there tends not to be as many kids running around while you are trying to enjoy a quiet meal.

And sitting on your balcony watching the animals wander around and graze is the best way to unwind at the end of the day I can think of.

  • Flagship Hotel: Grand Floridian is great if you want to Splurge!
  • Deluxe: I'd go with the Polynesian
  • Moderate: Coranado Springs
  • Value: All Star Music (not the most family oriented theme)
  • Home Away from home: Boardwalk (nightlife)

Thanks for all your help. On our last trip we stayed at POR and thought it was nice. Also we didn't notice as many loud kids. Anyone think that Disney will ever build a 'couples only' resort?

Can we change that to Couples/ Adults only?? I am having a tough time finding a suitable Beast for myself. So I usually end up going with friends. Thanks!!! OK now back on topic as others here have said stay away from the Value level altogether if you can do it. I enjoy Riverside and Coronado, but generally Coronado does have less kids due to the conventions. Hope this helps!! Belle

Glen and I don't have children and we've stayed at CBR, POR and BW, they were all fine child-wise. I guess the advice is to avoid the value resorts, i've heard they can be very noisy.

We too are waiting for the Adults only WDW resort :animwink:

The Grand Floridian is the way to go!

The Animal Kingdom Lodge is also extremely nice, but there are alot of kids, but the resort is designed some how to create the effect that you hardly see anyone.

I like that idea, whilst I'm sure there is a market for it, it wouldn't be very Disney..... hang on, if it makes money then sure - it is Disney..... "Coming 2006 Disney's All Star Adult Resort & Spa"

Kids will be everywhere you go...everywhere. But I guess in my opinion only I would say the Boardwalk Inn. BWVs have more kids it seems than the BWI. The Inn seems very quiet and the inside courtyard and quiet pool are very relaxing. We would head over there if we wanted to get away from the noise....Good luck making your decision

As far as proximity to good eats and the parks, the Epcot resorts in general cannot be beat. If you stay at BWI, there is Flying Fish, Spoodles, Big River Grille. Across the way at the Y an B Club, you have the Yachtsman Steakhouse and Cape May Cafe. You are also within walking distance of all of the restaurants at Epcot--World Showcase.

Of course Belle! I didn't mean "couples". I should have said adults only. If my recollection is good, there are lots of Beasts on Staten Island. I moved from NY to NC 11 years ago so I could be wrong.

Yep there are lots of beasts but very few that are suitable. I happen to be really picky and very cautious (a divorce will do that to ya!!) And finding a Beast that is willing to put up with my Disney habit sems to be pretty tough!!! Im sure when the time is right though, the opportunity will present itself and Im sure I will have many adventures in the Great Wide Somewhere then!!! In the meanwhile, I Am happy with my life as it stands!! Belle

I'm not sure what your budget is, but I would go with Coronado Springs or Old Key West.

CS is primarily a convention hotel & I rarely see kids there. It's an all around great place, particularly for the moderate price. The american southwest/mexican theme is more adult-oriented, so don't expect to see any characters running around. Bus service here is good also.

Old Key West, while expensive, is a dream. They're nearly condos with kitchens, large bathrooms, etc. Go with the one-bedroom though, not the studios. The studios are basically regular hotel rooms at ridiculously high-prices. The resort is extremely quiet, peaceful and private. A nice perk here is the nightly boat ride to Downtown Disney.

I agree with one of the earlier posters about avoiding the value resorts at all costs (All Stars, Pop Century, etc.). They're noisy and swarming with kids. Almost as bad are the moderates Port Orleans & Carribean Beach.

I also like Animal Kingdom Lodge, mainly for the great atmosphere. It does has some kids around, but not too bad.

As stated before, there will be kids everywhere & stay away from the Value Resorts. But my personal favorite is Wilderness Lodge. The hot tubs are very relaxing late at night when most kids are in bed.

We stayed at port orleans french quarter 2 times and found it to be great. Not many rooms and i think most families go for riverside because you can have 5 in a room. Also great for adults is easy access to downtown via boats.

It also depends on what time of year you visit. We are limited to summers only and that means kids everywhere, even at the Grand Floridian. Anytime children are out of school (summer, Christmas, Easter, etc) there are bound to be children. It doesn't even have to be a lot of kids. Even if there were only three kids at the AKL or Boardwalk, if they are in the room above or next door, on the balcony, yelling at the animals (at AKL), racing up and and in the hall outside the room, ITS GOING TO BE HELL.

And no I do not dislike children. I dislike adults who have children that have no business having children. Adults that leave their children unattended, let their children walk over to the tables of strangers in restaurants and disturb their meals (while I guess they take a break from the harsh reality of parenthood) and especially adults that take their children to Pleasure Island at 12:00am and 1:00am and let them run around.

Please spare me any posts that attempt to see the other side of this argument because there aren't any.
