We will be arriving on a Sunday afternoon, probably around 3or 4:00. We will check in to the POR for 3 nights before transferring to the Wl for 4 nights, and will have our 4yr. old daughter with us. I'd like to try somewhere we have never eaten before, and any type of restaurant will do becuase my daughter will sit still for hours. I was considering the Flying Fish, Wolfgang Puck's, Portobello's, or Bongo's. Also, any resort restaurant would be fine. The only one I say an absolute NO to is the Rainforest Cafe( my daughter was terrified and the food stunk!). Thanks for all of your help. Disney fans are the GREATEST!

It's HarmonioUS, NOT HarmoniYOU.
Go with bongo's... I hear the Churassco (skirt steak with some other stuff) is great...it came highly recomended from a friend...so I plan on giving Bongo's a try :)

I'm sorry to hear about your bad experience at Rainforest Cafe. That resturant is always a "must eat at" on our list. I would recomend that once your daughter is older, to give them another try. That is one of my favorite WDW resturants.

If your daughter likes animals and isn't a too picky eater (they have basic "kid" food-- chicken fingers, frech fries, hot dogs, etc.), I would suggest Boma at Animal Kingdom Lodge. That is a very unique experience, and I loved it.

Try to get reservation for the Polynesian Loau. I've never been, but that is on my to do list, when I go again. I've never heard anything bad ablout it.

If all else fails, get a character meal anywhere they are. Chef Mickeys at the Contemporary and 1900 Park Fare at the Grand Floridian are some of the best.

Just a side note, since your daughter is 4, you might want to consider a character breakfast in Norway. All the Disney princesses host it. I know most girls that are four love the Princesses.

Hope this helps and hope you enjoy your trip!!! :D

I love Ohana´s at the Polynesian... you can see the MK fireworks from there. It´s an all you can eat (but not buffet), the food is superb and the staff will treat you like "family"... :D :animwink:

I didn't like the Flying Fish. The menu was limited. What I chose I wasn't thrilled with. Go to Boatwright's or Rose and Crown ::wave:

Out tradition is a first night dinner at "Chef Mickey's". They have a great character, buffet style dinner. The food and service are great, the kids think the characters are great, and the price, well the price is not as great, but it does help acclimate you to the prices that you will be seeing the rest of the week.

I have to say I love chef mickey's too. It's a little childish, but i'm 22 and i still have to eat there every time. tradition, what can you do. if you want a more grown up buffet that is incredible, try boma's at the animal kingdom lodge. just remember: wherever you eat, atleast it's in disneyworld.

From the looks of your list, seems that you are looking for something nice. Might try Narcoosees @ Grand Floridian, food is great and you can watch the fireworks and the water pageant from your table.

Olive Garden!

Whenever we are down, my wife and I have The Olive Garden on our fly-in day. There are no more of that chain where we live, hasn't been for the last few years, so we really enjoy having a meal that is a treat, and something familiar.:animwink:

Bring on the Pasta Fagioli Soup and those breadsticks baby!

Artist Point at the WL is excellent.

The Yacht Club has a pretty good Steak House but I forget the name. And the buffet at the Yacht Club, Cape May Cafe, is good if you like seafood.

At DTD, Fulton's Crab House is not bad. (Although, it was better when it was the Steerman's Quarters, but I digress.)

The Luau at the Ploynesian or the Hoop De Do Revue at Fort Wilderness might be entertaining for your daughter as well as you and your wife.

I was really shocked to see your statement about Rainforest. We've always enjoyed a great meal with them and they cater for my wife's Coeliac diet which is usually a problem. Was this a recent experience?

It's 2 years since I've been to Disney and I'm going in 4 days time. I can avoid it if they are not as good as they used to be. Which Rainforest did you go to? Downtown or Animal Kingdom?

We ate at the Rainforest Cafe at Downtown Disney. I am a VERY adventerous eater, but my food was just not tasty and my husband said that his food wasn't too great either. The last time we ate there was in January. Maybe we are just picky eaters, or maybe it was the entree's that we chose. Plus, the meltdown we experienced with our daughter didn't help either. There are just too many other good places to eat for us to try there again soon!
Thanks for all the input from everyone!

Since no one else has done it, I will throw in a vote for Boma at AKL.

Personally I think this is one of the best meals I have had at WDW. Especially for a dessert lover like me!

For something nice I would recommend the California Grille.

My top choice though would be 'Ohana at the Polynesian. The food is terrific and has a great setting. They also have activities for kids there (coconut races and hula hopps).

Try to go to either of the these restaurants on MK fireworks nights. The views from both places are great, and they play the music so you don't miss a thing.

I recomend the Clam Bake at Cape may Cafe at the Beach Club. I went to that when I was there this spring and it was excellent. All you can eat buffet of clams, crab legs, potatoes, great clam chowder and tons of other things. Not to mention the great dessert table. I ate so much i could barely move.
