Hello,

Does anyone know where I can find a list of which rides/attractions I am allowed and not allowed to take video or pictures of? Like, for instance, can I videotape the duration of the Test Tracks ride, or inside the Haunted Mansion?

Thanks in advance.

well

WEll I cannot tell you which one's officially but when you are at the parks they make it clear with messages which one's cannot be filmed.

Most can be filmed without using an exterior lighting or flashes. There are a small few that don't allow it at all.

I asked for this last time I went down and did not get much od a response. I also asked at the parks and that did not help much either. Good Luck

The only one's coming to mind that DO NOT allow video taping or photos are WWTBAM and The Magic of Disney Animation. You can get photos before taping at WWTBAM but never at MDA.

You can tape basically everything else that I can think of as long as there is no external lighting. I videotaped PotC and HM just last week using my NightShot Plus on my camcorder. They will tell you before each ride and show if any taping and photos can be taken.

For some reason I remember NOT being able to video or take pictures on The Great Movie Ride. Am I remembering it wrong, or have the changed it?

You CAN video and snap pictures on this attraction. YOu cannot use additional lighting.

If you care caught using lighting equipment, they WILL tell you to stop! Last time I rode PotC, they stopped the sound and said "please turn off all video lighting!" about three times. I missed almost a whole scene because of it... grrr...Make sure your auto light feature is off when taping an indoor attraction... that's happened to me before... oops!

YOu can not film in any movie attraction (muppets, philharmagic ect...) Also attractions where you can possibly drop your camera (Tower of Terror, Space Mountain ect...)

If you have a new Sony camcorder, they have the NightShot Plus which allows you to shoot in extremely low light and still get great video without external lighting. I love using that because the quality of film is excellent. My PotC film looks like you're actually in the boat the whole time and not watching a video.

Glad to hear that about the Sony - ours was delivered this morning just in time for me to learn how to use it before our trip in Oct.

Just remember to turn off your Nightshot light. It has an infrared light on it, and the CM's watch through IR cameras. They can't tell if you have a regular light or IR light.

I've gotten the "turn video illumination off" a couple of times before I figured out it was me. There should be an option in the menu to turn it off.

Never mind the fact the idiots in the boat ahead of me were snapping pictures with their flash on.

When Philharmic first opened for AP previews, I asked a manager who was i the attraction, "Can I video tape, I did not hear any annoucement". He said "yes you can", so I did. Came out rather well.

Even though are rules as to what you can/can't taoe, it seems alot of times it is up to the CM if they annouce and/or enforce it.

Last time I was in TimeKeeper, there were several people with video cameras taping and no annoucement or CM stopped anyone. :)

I've never had a problem recording anything, including Timekeeper. Maybe it's just meant to be. :lookaroun :p

So long as you put your camera away if your Cast Member asks, and remove ALL external video lighting, you should be no bother to the other guests.

thats funny because last august when I went to disney, we got video for the following rides:

Tower of Terror- the whole ride including the drop zone--never told to turn camera off. My sister even has the camera to her face in the picture and nothing was said.

Mission Space--the whole ride video--nothing was said to us on that one either

Journey into your Imagination--the whole ride--

Test Track--the whole ride again too---

Great Movie Ride--whole ride

small world-

pirates of the caribbean--

Spaceship Earth

Maelstrom and El Rio Del Tiempo

Kilomanjaro Safari

All of those rides listed above, nothing was said to us about putting the video camera down now the only ride we couldn't get was Rock n' roller coaster. they told my dad to turn off the camera. he didn't have any lighting on or anything but i guess they figured it out.

Couldn't film at RNR

I was told to "turn it off" when i was filming at RNR. The CM who let us "in" was fine with it, but when I made it to the lobby I was told to turn off the camera. I did turn it back on and film a little of the launch while we were waiting, but didn't want to push my luck or have an un-Disneylike scene that might ruin someone else's day.

I've been able to tape some portion of every attraction I've ever seen. This includes the prohibited rides such as Ellen's Energy Adventure, Alien Encounter, Magic of Disney Animation, etc

It's all about your technique. If you're discreet about it, you can tape just about anything you want to.

For example, to tape Ellen, I had my camera in my lap pointing up at the screen (while sitting in the front row). To tape AE, I put a piece of electrical tape over anything on my camera that produced light and basically did the same thing.

At the Great Movie ride, it IS being announced by the CM in front of the car... "Because of the nature of this ride, NO videotaping is allowed, during the ride"...
But most people don't (or don't want to) hear it...

Of course everyone wants to tape... even I...
Years back (1995) we did "Back To The Future, the Ride", at Universal Studios.. while we were half way the movie, suddenly a voice in the car came up, which said...
Sir, Please put your camera down, you're not allowed to be videotaping this...

When the ride finally finished, nothing further happened... and went home, with half a movie (ride) :p LOL :p

I've always heard that if the ride/show contains Copyrighted Material that Disney does not own you won't/shouldn't(if the CM doesn't catch you) be video tapping. For instance you can't video tape Star Wars(I've literally been in an E-Stop on that ride because someone was videotaping). I also believe you can't video tape Indiana Jones. And when Super Star Teleivion was you couldn't video tape there either due to the copyrights.
