The more I though about it the more I felt I needed to use some of my china. It just didn’t feel like Christmas dinner without it. So I got down on the floor to get 2 plates, a small plate and a bowl to use. I also got out my crystal candleholders. It was worth the discomfort, and it satisfied me.

That is a beautiful table! I know what you mean about china service on a special day.

I'm like that too—I actually have a set of Lenox Christmas china. It's a set that I built up over the years (many pieces were gifts from family to help me build up the set). I use it once a year (you'd think I would have gone for something more generic to get more use out of it—but no—this pattern called out to me).

Makes Christmas dinner very special.

Here's the service we went to today. Kids were encouraged to dress up as shepherds, wise men, animals, etc and participate in the pageant. it was soooooo cute!! And there were lots of real animals and even a fish!

Amazing! (I've always preferred children's services, over the adult services.)

It really was delightful - after seeing this cathedral host the solemn funerals this year of John McCain and George HW Bush, it was awesome to see it so lively and joyful.

I’m not sure if it’s a bug or something we ate. My belly is on fire, but no yakking yet. (No one else from last night’s get together seems to be sick.)

I’m off to prep everything for dinner and wash all the prep dishes/cutting boards/pots & pans. I like to get everything ready so I’m just pulling stuff from the oven and bringing it to the table. I know no one is going to help me clean up AFTER so I dang well better have it cleaned before if I want to relax after dinner!
