Beat Your Winter Cold Before It Beats You

It’s beginning to look a lot like … cold and flu season? Unfortunately, yes. As the temperatures drop, your odds of getting sick this season increase. Try one of these helpful hacks to beat that cold before it beats you.
Hydrate
We know you’ve heard it before. “Drink lots of fluids!” is the classic recommendation to offer anyone who feels like they’re getting sick. But it’s a classic for a reason - it works! Increasing your intake of fluids, both before and during a cold, can have a huge impact on how quickly your body gets over its illness. It doesn’t just have to be water either. Hot tea, orange juice, Gatorade and soups are all great options, and they’ll keep you hydrated while you’re losing fluids because of coughing, sneezing, and sniffling.
Take a Hot Shower
Hop in and let the water run over you for a while at the highest temp you can stand. The steam from a hot shower is great for decongesting a stuffy nose and chest. Plus, it’s a great way to relax! Stress can be a cause of colds and flu because it hits your immune system hard, so any way you can reduce stress in your life will be great for fighting those pesky germs. Don’t forget to hydrate after though! Hot water can dry you out.
Avoid the Germs
There’s nothing worse than hearing a chorus of sniffling and sneezing throughout your workplace or home and knowing there’s nothing you can do about it. But there is! Sanitize, sanitize, sanitize.

Wash your hands before eating and after using the restroom, don’t touch surfaces in public places like restaurants and public transportation, and don’t be shy about hand sanitizing multiple times a day. Germs are exchanged very easily through skin-to-skin contact, so doubling up on hand sanitizer and wipes is the best combatant.
Rest Up
It seems like the simplest solution, but it’s also one of the best. If you can barely keep your eyes open at work, or you feel dead on your feet due to aches and pains, hit the hay! Getting some extra hours of sleep can be the fuel your body needs to put up a good fight with a cold or the flu. Also, throw a couple of extra pillows on your bed and sleep in a slightly upright position. This can help drain the fluids from your nose and chest, so you can breathe a little easier.
The winter is coming quickly, and you won’t want to spend it under the weather! Try these helpful tips to beat that winter cold before it beats you.

Keep well my friends

If Mike and I stayed aloft tandem para-sailing, I’m sure you’d be fine. 👍
What side was he on, because I'm pretty sure that whatever side that was was the direction you were turning. That aside, there isn't a justification you can come up with that would get me to do it. I have no desire to see what it is like to be a bird, hand gliding or para-sailing. I've ridden in helicopters, and that was close enough.

Parasailing was really not that big of a thrill for me. More-so for Mike of course, because he’s afraid of heights. The older he gets, the worse it gets. I’d be shocked if he ever agreed to do it again.

Whatever you do DO NOT READ THE INSTRUCTIONS. No one likes an over-achiever.
No one like being stymied by a control panel that looks like a plane’s cockpit.

Like asking for directions, women generally are willing to read instruction manuals and assembly directions.

I assemble all IKEA items. Mike drinks beer and watches me. 😉
