Where in the World Isn't Bob Saget?

There's a real interesting ride over one of the Green Mtns. in Vermont called Smugglers Notch. I had to drive through there one night after attending a retailers convention in Stowe. It was a clear cold late fall evening with a full moon. I'm not a believer in ghosts and goblins (whatever they are) but, I could not wait to get through the notch and back down the other side. The road twists around huge boulders and trees that go right to the very edge of a very narrow road. Every year someone with a truck that had never been there before would get wedged up in there and have to be rescued mechanically to get out. There are signs, but, people either never noticed them or ignored them thinking that it's just a road and they are super good drivers so they can make it where others haven't. They are wrong. As soon as the first snowfall hits that road is closed. I suspect it closed this past week.

I've been up there! (But not in a truck. ;) ) I also remember my father taking the family on a ride up through Smugglers Notch mountain pass one fall--gorgeous! Then again, the Green Mountains are beautiful all year round. Mount Mansfield is also quite majestic.

You would love it, but, I spent two winters standing out there at the Mt. Mansfield base lodge directing buses for the in town tourist to get back and forth to the base lodge. And you know how I feel about winter. That was the last two winters of my time in Vermont. Makes me cringe just to think about it.

That looks amazing! Might be a good place for a meetup in February?

I’d love to meet up again. Unfortunately, I don’t think I’ll be here in February. I recently decided to move closer to my family. Right now the plan is to move back sometime in January. I’ve decided to go back to school to become an X-ray technician. My program will take two years to finish. The cost of living is a lot less there, so that will make it a lot easier for me to afford to do that. I also really miss my family. I feel like I’m missing my little sister grow up. Who knows, maybe one day I’ll be able to move back here. For now, though, I think it’s best that I move closer to my family.

I think that is excellent news. I know your family will be happy too.

I’m so glad you made the move to Florida though. It was good for you in many ways.

I think that's a smart move, but I'm sorry we won't get to meet up again.

That sounds like a good plan and a good career path! I hated being so far from my family while we were up in Wisconsin and my wife missed her family too. We loved it up there, but It’s nice being closer to them all.

My tree is up. Son of a gun - I can’t find the beautiful Swarovski ornaments I bought in NYC last year. I’m sure I put them somewhere “special” ... along with the electric blanket and MNSSHP tickets. Good grief! 🙄

If you'll recall, last year I said...
I love the nutcracker ornament!

Can I have it?

...please?

and you said...

I was told that it was the last one available in that particular store. It was their biggest seller this year.

Perhaps we can alternate custody every other year. I was born in an odd-numbered year, so I’ll take odds; you can have evens.

mystery solved!

Maybe we'll still be able to meet up again. My mom is going to Rhode Island this summer. I'm not sure if I'll be able to go with her, but if I am, maybe we can find a way to meet up again.

I think it will be a good career path for me. Talking with my grandmother, who was X-ray tech, was really helpful in making the decision.
Imagine how I feel. 🙁

I'm still really wanting to make a trip up to Canada. I'll just have to find the time to do it, and we can meet up then.
