Where in the World Isn't Bob Saget?

Sadly, this is probably true. The difference is, you guys have a dozen other department store chains - JC Penney, Macy’s, Lord & Taylor, Kohl’s, Tar-jay, Nordstrom ....

While ones and twos of those stores are slowly drifting into Toronto, most regular city malls will now be totally without a large anchor department store. :(
Sorry to hear that...I grew up without all those. We had to drive 75 miles to hit a Target or JC Penny's...I think we had to go to South Dakota for Sears if I remember correctly. Macy's, Kohl's, Nordstrom were non-existent and I've never even HEARD of Lord and Taylor. I was in high school before we got a Walmart. But I think it's different when you aren't used to having it there...you don't really know what you are missing and then when you make the big pilgrimage to a "city" (like Wyoming has anything close to what one would call a city) it was a huge adventure and seemed amazing. I can imagine that it's really hard when you are used to just being able to make a run to whatever store and then suddenly it's gone. I certainly miss one-stop shopping!! And being able to order Rootbeer in a restaurant. Hopefully you can find alternatives that work for you!

Every day is Stop Bullying Day in our house. We have now pulled my son out of school (two weeks ago) because he was being bullied so badly. Found him a new school this morning if they will accept him. Prayers and pixie dust please!

After four or five years of having a heated mattress pad, this year I switched to an electric blanket. Dual controlled, of course.

Okay Winter, I’m ready. (Not really, but you know what I mean.)

Holly seems to like it too. :)
Do you like it better than the mattress pad? I have the mattress pad and love it with the exception of it migrating to my husband's side in the night.

I went to Sears today, and I was most assuredly the youngest person there. :(

The thing is, Sears (and Macy’s and the BonTon et al) do sell trendy clothes, in addition to Grandma clothes.
When I was in college, I had to get a dress for my Senior Recital and I drove an hour to get to Dillards, which was the closest department store to us where I could possibly find a formal. I was looking at a beautiful dress, but they didn't have anything in my size, and a very snooty employee came and asked me if she could help me find something. I explained what I was looking for, she looked me up and down and said very judgmentally, "You won't find anything in YOUR size here." Never shopped at Dillards again, and I get anxious about department stores in general...I feel like everyone is looking at me and wondering what I could possibly want in their store.

I like it better than the mattress pad. Both products are Sunbeam, but the blanket heats up so much more quickly. Also, I prefer the feather-light weight of the blanket and wires resting on top of me, rather than the weight of me pressing into the wires.

Bonus points for being able to pull the blanket up high, covering both the front and back of my neck, as well as whichever ear and side of my face is exposed. It’s like my own little heated cocoon. This allows Mike to keep the bedroom window as wide open as he likes. Win, win.
