We had a neighbor who kept Santa on his chimney year round. We may have lit it up on the 4th of July....

I take my lights/decorations down a day or two after Christmas. They dont even make it till New Years.

I was raised that they HAVE to be down before the New Years. It's considered bad luck to keep them up after the 31st.

I love the Holidays......but since the kiddo grew up and moved out it just isnt the same.

Even if a loved one moved away, you can still keep Christmas in your heart, while also creating some new traditions for yourself. Maybe next Christmas, you could put up a different style of Christmas outdoor display--maybe one with music or different colored lights than you used previously. Or maybe just a pretty wreath on your front door with some nice lighting; sometimes less is more.
