Thank you for the link @trr1 !
#6 "Dutch Apple Family Restaurant" is totally new to new to me.
Although we will eventually try your suggestion of giving (#5 on your link)YODER'S a chance, my wife has requested that during our next visit to Lancaster (date NOT yet selected) we we will be going back to give Miller's our repeat business. (#3).

One of the longest weeks of the year is over... conference week. We had two 12-hour days, along with our normal workload. It's so exhausting. Especially when I was sick the entire week. And the extra workload gave no time to rest and recover. But today was the first day all week I didn't feel sick, so I guess there's that.

When you're the leader, you don't have to follow.

The like is for finally not feeling sick.

Our conference week is next week. Not looking forward to the long days but at least we will have Friday off. Sorry you have been feeling sick; that was my September.

We didn't get any extra time off. It's exhausting, and we definitely don't do our best teaching. And we don't have the prep time to get things ready for our lessons because we're prepping for conferences.

I would love to do a half day on a Thursday with kids. Then use the afternoon and evening for conferences, followed by a day off on Friday. We stayed after school until 7:30 on Tuesday and Thursday. So we worked 7:30 to 7:30 those days.

Our elementary conferences on Monday and Thursday are from 4-7pm and our Middle/High School ones are from 5-8pm. I wish ours was the same time as the Elementary so we could be done but it will be nice to have a little longer break from 3:30 to 5pm.

I'm so glad we have Friday off, last year we had an inservice day after conferences and we will in the spring too. The inservice/professional development day isn't bad but a day off is better!

I hope you have a relaxing weekend planned to recuperate!

We have been very unstructured with our conferences since covid. However, that led to many inconsistencies and not everyone working the same amount. For example, the core classroom teachers were putting in about 16 extra hours a year compared to specials, specialists, and spec ed teachers. So we went back to the structured format this year. It was also supposed to be equitable between all three buildings (elementary, middle, and high). However, that has not come to fruition. The elementary staff are still working about 8 hours more than the middle school staff, and the principal (who was our AP last year) didn't notify families about conferences until two days before, so they didn't really have anyone show up anyway.

Also many of us have said we like meeting with families in person, but conferences really need to be reimagined. I just repeat the same things I've already informed parents of multiple times. It may be more at the elementary level, but we are constantly in contact with families due to modern technology like school communication apps. It's really just rehashing the same thing.

Anyway... I don't really have anything planned this weekend, and that's okay by me. I need to catch up on sleep and rest. My apartment has been a disaster this week because I've either gotten home so late that I essentially get ready for bed, or I've been feeling terrible and haven't had the energy to pick anything up or put anything away. The dishes have been piling up on the counter because I haven't been able to unpack the dishwasher. My countertop was full of mail and random items to sort through. I actually had the energy to do it after school today, so I took care of all that (and most of my laundry), so I don't have to do tons this weekend. I should clean, but we'll see if that happens.

We've been to all, pros and cons to each, some has better food, some better atmosphere, some value, some location but dh always gets jerky from Stoltzfus. Seeing when we're down there I'm on the hunt for fabric in the area, he always manages to find time for jerky, which hasn't been on his diet in FOREVER
