Today is a sad day in the community I teach in. A local bakery is closing its doors after 97 years in business. It's been owned and operated by the same family for the entire duration. They decided that they want to spend more time with their family, and they don't have the same passion for it after their father, and previous owner, passed away.
The bakery has amazing treats. They had the best donuts I've ever had. But it's also been a staple in the community. All the posts I'm seeing today show how important they were to so many people. I have never lived in the community, so I don't have the same experiences as other people, but I remember going there as a kid when we'd drive through the town on our way to camping at a nearby state park. We'd stop by to grab some donuts as we drove up to Madison. And as a teacher, I'd have students bring me donuts and cookies from the bakery every now and then. Their treats were a staple on days parents or community members would surprise the staff.
The family who owns it are the nicest people you'll meet. I've had students from their family. I'm happy for them, but it's still sad to see it go away. They announced a week or so ago that they'd be closing today. And since then, they've been sold out by 5:30 every morning. The open at 5. Yesterday people were lining up before 3am. I have a friend who got in line at 2:57 and was the 12th person in line. Her son is in my class this year, and he brought me my last cinnamon roll from there.

That is sad. There aren’t as many good family bakeries anymore.
We're hoping they sell it and another family will pick up from where they left off, but it still wouldn't be the same.

So, this happened yesterday ….
That’s my brother’s little tree. It always goes up early.
The “real” (still artificial) tree that Santa visits usually goes up at the beginning of November, but they’ll be away for two weeks + the other two weekends in November, so it’s going up within the next two weeks.

Dang, I was just about to take credit for the inspo pics.
It started as me watching a TikTok from someone showing all the Disney Christmas stuff being put out at Kohl's. Then I saw a night light I had to have, so I went looking for it. I thought, oh I'll get two. One for me and one for my mom. Then I saw a couple of Disney Christmas shirts/sweaters and added them to the cart. Then I saw a Disney Christmas blanket that I also thought my mom would like, so I added that, too. So what was originally a two item search ended up becoming a 5 item purchase. But I ended up getting 20% off and then $10 off of that. So it's really a win, right?
Have been talking about putting the tree up for a few weeks. Waiting until we have done DLP mid month. Never too early for ChristmasSo, this happened yesterday ….

Back again with a trip to our closest park that was unplanned before the start of the year. We went from ,
"There's a real good deal on a DLP hotel"
to
Flights, Hotel and transfers booked in 24hrs.
If I haven't said it before , Mrs Ferret is incredible.
I will put pictures in but am going to leave most of them to the end.
The where and when ,
Disneyland Paris , 31st March to 4th April.
