Where in the World Isn't Bob Saget?

I love a good horror or ghost movie. I just don't like anything too gory. I like to be scared not grossed out.
I lived by myself for more than 7 years before I got married. I quickly learned that horror and ghost movies are no fun when you wake up alone at 4:00 a.m.
I think I've only ever seen: Carrie, Prom Night, Damien - Omen 2, Phantom of the Paradise, and The Little Girl Who Lives Down the Lane - which has a 100% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

That's it. That's all. I learned my lesson real good.

Truth is, I found Scarface and The Great Gatsby to be equally disturbing, for totally different reasons.

Little Girl Who Lives Down the Lane is another good one, too.

I avoided watching Scarface for so long, mainly because of the bathroom scene, but once I watched the movie I was hooked and it became one of my favorites.

You're referring to the recent Gatsby, right? :p

I'm never scared after watching a horror movie. I can watch a scary movie and go right to bed with no problem.

Is this The Great Gatsby with Leonardo DiCaprio? I hated that movie. What was it with the modern music in a film set in the 20s? That movie isn't going to age well.

Yes. I don't like tales of great excess. Too much money, too much power, too much violence, too much hatred and evil, too much drugs, alcohol, sex, etc. It all troubles me. I didn't sleep for a few nights after seeing The Dark Night.

And no, I have not, nor will I ever, see The Wolf of Wall Street.

Thankfully, I cannot recall the bathroom scene to which you refer, and for once, I'm NOT going to Google it.

Good idea. :)

I'm a scaredy-cat. On the plus side, I know it, so I intentionally do not read or watch scary or upsetting things.

Two scariest books I've ever read - Amityville Horror and Stephen King's Misery. Ugh!

I've probably led a very sheltered life. First my dad, and then my Hubby protecting me from things that go bump in the night.

There's like 4 movies called The Dark Night. What year was it made?

The Shining was the scariest one for me! :cold:

The one with Heath Ledger - wherein he played a character so inherently evil that he ended up accidentally OD'ing to escape the creature in his brain.

Also, it might have been more clear had I spelled "Knight" with a K. :p

Is that the reason why he OD'd? I didn't follow the story after the initial news.

Didn't see it, except for the infamous "Heeeeeere's Johnny" scene - and not while actually viewing the movie, just some pop culture reference somewhere.

The book scared me way more than the movie. When I first watched the movie, I kept thinking there was so much missing from it. Still a great movie, though.

The prevailing story at the time was that the Joker had gotten so deep into his psyche that he couldn't turn it off. He'd been sleepless for months, much like MJ, and was self-medicating, desperate to sleep.
They (whoever they are) also say that his lack of formal acting training, minimized his ability to separate himself from the character.

This is me shrugging, as I certainly have no insight, outside of what I have read, and heard on nonsense shows like Entertainment Tonight.

And with that, I am off to bed. Hopefully to have sweet dreams, in between bouts of freight train decibel snoring coming from the other side of the mattress.

Good night catmom, and anyone else who is still up.

Speaking of don't read the book first, it is well past time to revisit Gone With the Wind.
Now there is a book that outshines the film adaptation; no matter how Award-winning the movie was.

Apparently he wanted to make a more modern version of the classic ghost story movie, rather than something more original and creative.

Have you been watching The Strain? I've only seen a few episodes, but I liked them and eventually would like to watch the series.
I usually like Del Torro's work and I was excited for his Haunted Mansion film, but I feel like that is forever trapped in development now. The Strain lost me halfway through the first season though. The good (the evil vampire nazi and Filch/Walder Frey) was outweighed by the bad (nothing happening, the most of the actors just seem out of it, that dumb kid, the guy from House of Cards' stupid wig).
