Arthur's Epic Nature & Wildlife Adventurepalooza Trip Report
Part VI

So picking up where we left off. Riding along on the Shark Valley tram in the wide open splendor of the Everglades...

We see something large laying out next to the road ahead. Passengers start getting their cameras ready, and keeping their feet away from the edge, just in case it happens to be an angry Bob Saget. But alas, it was not.

It was a large alligator relaxing in the tall grass.

And the alligator did not care too much for the large tram slowing down next to it. Because he / she took off in a hurry! Up until this point, I had only seen gators lay lazily or strut on land...but never run at a high speed. This one clearly demonstrated...they can move FAST!

We eventually make it to the Shark Valley observation tower. The only way to get to this tower is by either taking the tram like we did, or bicycling. There are no main roads or parking for vehicles to get to this.

The view was incredible. We stayed on the observation platform for a good half-hour, taking in the surrounding vistas & keeping our eyes alert for any stray Bob Saget's frolicking across distant horizon.

Heading back on the tram, we see even more wildlife goodness. This bird is called an Anhinga. Remember the trail we hiked earlier called the Anhinga Trail, where we saw those 3 ginormous gators alongside the path? Well this is that very bird in which that trail is named after.

Here we see another great blue heron...

And in the water not far from the heron...we find yet more baby alligators, with their mother! (Even though it is slightly blurred, this is probably my favorite picture I took all trip.)
