Arthur's Epic Nature & Wildlife Adventurepalooza Trip Report
Part II

Arriving at our first hiking trail in the Everglades. This is the Anhinga Trail, which is not a long or difficult trail by any means. Only over a half-mile trail roundtrip, I think. But what it lacks in distance, it certainly makes up for in wildlife if you hit at the right time of day.

The trail is mostly paved walkway & boardwalk, and it has great views of surrounding marsh & terrain.

Walking across the boardwalk overlooking Taylor Slough, we behold our very first (of many) alligator sightings in the national park.

And then we turn a corner to a shaded area of the trail, and that's when we see HER!

To be continued...

Who is this HER?! Is it Sandra Bullock? Hillary Clinton? Mary Kate Olson? @Nemo14?! I need to know!!
Only time will tell.

But before I get on to the next update, which will probably be sometime tonight after work...one thing I'd like to point out. Pay attention to the boardwalk trail leading across the marsh in my last update. Notice how the low board on the side railing is so low and close to the walkway. That is to prevent small children from slipping & falling into the water below.

Now then, take a look at this picture of my Dad, who is taking a picture of HER.

Notice how on this area of the trail, the low board on the side railing is much higher from the walkway, by several feet at least. This is to allow the park inhabitants to freely cross the boardwalk in wooded areas, to allow them to feed & seek shelter/water freely.

So once we saw HER, there were no barriers or blockades whatsoever keeping HER from us. And if she wants, she can top 25mph in speed. Never has a stroll along a boardwalk ever been so intense. ;)

So it must be Mary Kate Olson, then.

When you're the leader, you don't have to follow.
My niece was here last night for a sleepover.
She was supposed to have gone to her other Aunty Jen's house, but she wanted to come here instead.

We went out for a late lunch/early dinner, strolled around the mall, and then went to a home decorating store, where I bought her a few things for her new room.

Minor criticism of my brother and his wife - just because Ally is a sporty girl (she was the only girl on her football team for the three or four years she played), doesn't mean she doesn't like to be a girly-girl too.

She likes to do the mani/pedi thing. She likes pretty things for her room. She likes smelly body washes and soaps and hand creams. I never realized how much my mom filled the girly-girl void until it became my job.

Anyway, I told her that next time I came over, I would take some pics of her room and bathroom, and then she and I would go back to Homesense and reallllly go to town.

This time tomorrow night I'll be watching the Packers take on the Seahawks at Lambeau! Super excited!

Also, apparently my college football team won 35-28 in OT after being down 28-7 in the 4th quarter.

This was definitely worded wrong if you're not going to the game!!

When you're the leader, you don't have to follow.
100m down the road, our street is blocked with a bunch of ambulances and a fire truck, and maybe a cop or two.
Did I take a walk like a loser to check out what is going down? No sir, I did not.

Son #1 has gone out though, and since I refused to drive him, he is walking. In that direction. He has instructions to text me.

Failing which, I'll call the neighbour. She knows when anyone sneezes or coughs on the street, so she'll know for sure.
