Mike doesn’t refer to me as his DD, so much as a “cheap date”. Same sentiment - he doesn’t have to buy me drinks, and no paying for a cab or an Uber home.
We also had our work Christmas party yesterday. It was a late lunch. Also no pics, because we are brand new with this builder.
It was a sit down affair - antipasto, deep fried creatures from the sea, an absolutely gorgeous salad, all served family style; and then the individually plated pasta (penne a la vodka) and the main was grilled veal chop, a grilled lamb chop, veg, and a few roasted potatoes. Espresso or cappuccino followed the meal. If you didn’t guess tiramisu for dessert, you didn’t pick up the Italian vibe I was putting down.
It was very nice, and we were home by 6:00 in time for a lovely little day-off nap.
Yea, the Christmas parties my old firm had were a bit more involved than last night, but still at a fancy place, that was different each year.
Started at 7p with an open bar (‘til 9p, then it was cash) and hors d’oeuvres.
Sit down meal at 8, then after dessert there were gifts for the 4 partners, then a white elephant gift exchange that always took us well into the night.
Overall, we actually preferred last night to those parties. They were fun, but lengthy.
A couple of times the firm had those parties on a Thursday night, as that’s all they could get when they finally made the reservation.
I used to get into the office around 7:15a every morning, and on those Friday mornings the vast majority of the youngin’ employees started to roll in about 9a-ish, and not looking well, at all…!!!!!
As we got off at 1p on Fridays anyway, there wasn’t a lot of productivity on those days, and some would also leave early. Fun times…!!!
Definitely picked up on the Italian vibe. We had parties at at least 3 Italian places over all those years, and there was definitely tiramisu involved regarding dessert…!!!!!
Anyway, glad to hear y’all had an enjoyable, relaxing time…!!!
