There were a number of things, auto wise, that I have seen advance. In no particular order... Radial Tires, power steering, fuel injection, power windows, Windshield wipers that actually pressed against the glass, remote start, no need to change the oil every 3K, no need for spark plugs and points and condensers every 10K, along with that last one- electronic ignition, bucket seats, high quality music systems, front end engineering that didn't allow wheels to go out of alignment if you ran over a pebble, much better gas mileage and Oh, yeah... seatbelts. I really wouldn't mind going back to 29.9 cents per gallon gasoline though. I remember when it went up to 50 cents a gallon. Both my wife and myself commuted to work and it was a challenge to find enough money to pay the gas credit card every month. Sometimes we weren't able too. Those numbers seem like a joke now. If the 20 gallon tank were empty it only cost $10.00 to fill it. When I had my VW Beetle, in college, if I coasted into the station completely empty, $3.00 right to the top. (sigh)
