Where in the World Isn't Bob Saget?

I’m quite sure I’ve never mentioned this, but I can’t stand that show.

My favourite characters, in order, are:
Phoebe
Joey
"how you doin?"

I never watched it when it was on new. I did start watching it as reruns when I was confined to a chair for two months while my leg healed. I enjoyed it and was able to watch the same shows over and over again. I saw them so much that I no longer can watch them. I didn't like the whiner Ross or the obnoxious Rachael. I personally think that Phoebe was the most fun character on the show. Of all the old shows there are only two that I enjoy watching in reruns would be Hogan's Hero's and Get Smart. Both are not to be found anywhere anymore. One of the best shows that for some reason never are shown is Murphy Brown. Loved that show.

Murphy Brown and Designing Women were a Wednesday (?) night staple for me during the late 80’s/early 90’s. My BFF and I used to pick up Swiss Chalet after work and watch them both, every week for a couple of years.

And then I got married and had kids, and both shows ended about that time.

My daughter’s birthday is today and when she was little I had to explain she wasn’t getting a shorter birthday than everyone else.

My sister's birthday is tomorrow. When we were growing up, my parents always tried to make her day special and non-Christmasy; but even so, it didn't quite live up to birthdays during the year. Always thought she got a bit short-changed on the gifts.

A couple of years ago, they tried to revive Murphy, but it was very disappointing. It lacked the sharpness and the strength of her character that was such a central force of the show. I felt bad, because I liked the show so much that I really wanted it to be good, but it just wasn't. One of my current favorite shows, in rerun, is Last Man Standing, but when they changed networks they made a huge mistake in casting a replacement for an important character on the show. It just stopped being believable. It probably had run it's course anyway, but, it was one of the best written sitcoms on TV in it's original run.

My favorite old sitcoms were Barney Miller, Mary Tyler Moore Show, and WKRP in Cincinnati.

I like ensemble casting.

The Murphy Brown reboot was just plain bad. Spenser and I made it through two episodes together (barely), and then he watched part of a third.

Two thumbs down ... way down. 👎👎

Indeed, a huge disappointment. I think Candice still could have pulled it off if they have better plots and much better writing. They almost made "Murphy" seem powerless and unable to control her situation. Very, very bad!

I have a Christmas luncheon tomorrow. I really, really don’t want to go, but I have a Purchaser’s post-dated cheque that has to be delivered.

I‘ve half a mind to deliver the cheque back to my office, text in sick, and hit a solo matinee instead.

Okay, more than half a mind.

*Goes to check IMAX times in Mississauga or Brampton.*

@JenniferS , are you and Mike hosting a big family get-together for Christmas? (You usually have plenty of people in your house, so I figured you'd probably repeat that again this year.) For hubs and me, we invite my sister over. We don't have a lot of family around--your rellies seem to live in closer proximity.

Also, what gifts did you get for your pets? For Jack, we got him a new chew toy and some Greenies -- he loves those! 🐶

Big dinner, but I persuaded my brother to host.
I’ve bought and paid for a large prepared meal - all they have to do is heat it up.

I also bought a honey roasted spiral ham which I will prepare here and take with us. That’s about as much as my hip can handle.

Also, we want to totally mix things up from the usual so that we’re not all sitting around boo-hooing about Mark not being with us.

When we get to Heaven, if our rewards are based on how we treat other people - I’m good. If it’s based on how we treat “animals” - still good.

If it’s based on how we treat vermin, rodents, and flying insects - I am in BIG TROUBLE!

I bought a little spiral ham (feeds about 4). That's interesting that we both chose ham for Christmas dinner! Glad that you're not knocking yourself out cooking and hostessing this time.
