Where in the World Isn't Bob Saget?

Our TV time was pretty limited too - we all had chores to do every day.

We weren't allowed to watch any TV during the week (they wanted us to focus on our homework). That's why we loved Saturday mornings when we could watch cartoons and movies. (We had chores on the weekend, but just 1-2 hours each day, at the most. Big difference from where you lived, where you had farm work to do.)

Hot soapy water. I don’t need things disinfected; just clean. I am not a germaphobe.
Nor am I, but, I also am lazy and I think that if I had to use metal straws it would be time to just either plain drink it or buy a sippy cup with adult external decorations on it. You know, guns, fast cars, loose women. The standard stuff.:devilish:

Thanks for the image above. I'm sure some people will clean them out with the brush as shown.

However, for me, I think I'd go nutty cleaning out the inside of straws. I'd prefer to just avoid straws as much as I possibly could, just to avoid cleaning out the metal ones. (Actually, I rarely ever use straws to begin with. I prefer to drink directly out of a cup or glass.) :)
I used straws because I didn't know where those glasses have been when in a restaurant. I don't use one at home anyway. It still seems to me that I would be exposing myself to more invisible critters using a metal straw as just drinking out of a glass. And, wouldn't they only be good at home anyway? Where would one carry them when going out? I suppose purses are the answer for a female, but, I'm not sure where a graceful place is to carry one if you, like me, are not partial to carrying a purse. And is there a classy way to pull out a straw from ones accessories if dining out? Seems rather serf-ish to me. Probably the Nobles would have gold ones carried by servants.

Ski and I use them for iced coffee.
Guess the Saturday morning cartoon advertising breaks didn't pull you in. (As for me, I wanted everything that was advertised! :joyfull:) The Space Food Sticks came about during/after the various space flights back then. :)
We grew up wanting all of the American cereals we couldn’t buy up here.

We really only watched Saturday morning cartoons and then in the winter, the Sunday afternoon movies after church (Sinbad, Tarzan, Godzilla), and then after Sunday dinner, Mutual of Omaha’s Wild Kingdom.

In the summer, the tv could go days without being turned on. Mind you, we only had channels 2-13; one of which was TVO and another was French.

Not gonna lie - the best channels were the 3 Buffalo stations: WKBW (ABC affiliate), WIVB (CBS), and WGRZ (NBC). (FYI, I did not have to Google any of that!)

My sippy cup is a Figment Tervis. Problem is, I wear 3/4 of what comes out (more like a drippy cup!)

I ate two bags of this over the weekend. Wonder if that has anything to do with my meh tummy and no appetite the past two days. 🤷🏼‍♀️ (I’m down two pounds in two days ... without actually trying.)

We used to watch Channel 2 out of Montreal as well. It was all in French and we couldn't speak French, but, in the late night they used to show movies with a whole lot of 'nudidity' in them. In the states we were all to uptight to show skin on the T and V. However, when those scenes came on what they were saying wasn't anywhere near as important as why they were saying it.

Yea, I'm thinking that they must be tough to clean thoroughly. Germs would be extensive.
The set I bought has one of those pipe cleaner brushes so you can clean the inside. Obviously, the brush will have to be sterilized once in a while as well as the straws, but they should be easy enough to clean with the brush.

The thing with the straws is that there are people who have medical conditions that make drinking without a straw dangerous. I saw a whole article about it with a woman explaining that the switch to paper straws is bad for these people as the paper straws can't bend and some people can't use them. And drinking without a straw is a choking hazard for them, so they need straws that can bend. Obviously, most people are not impacted by that, but I had never thought about the fact that straws are a requirement for some people!
