Where in the World Isn't Bob Saget?

As I said we had an awesome time today with TickTock. We spent the day at GSNP and saw some awesome wildlife. It was such a fitting ending to our little Tennessee getaway. I’m trying to download some pictures, but my Chromebook isn’t cooperating so I think I’ll call it a night and either try again in the morning or tomorrow night when we’re back in VA.

Meanwhile I can give you the official count of what we saw today:
14 bears, including 3 or 4 sets of Moms with cubs
5 elk hiding in the woods
11 deer
A lot of turkeys
Hundreds of butterflies

We had so much fun - I hate to see it end. But we’ll be back for sure!

When you're the leader, you don't have to follow.
Jays are up big time, Raptors are down even bigger, so Mike suggested we go for a walk.

We’ll do the half version of our regular 4 miles ... after this inning that is.
The half walk must be a smidge more than half.
4.2 km = 2.6 miles.

Jays score is the same as when we left (10-2); Raptors lost big time!

Seriously, it’s the perfect place for our Saget-palooza.

Brief story interuption:

Often the best way to spot bears is to just look for a bunch of cars pulled over and crazy tourists pointing cameras, phones, and tablets. But at one stop we made, we saw a man with a camera making his way up to a field, followed by a woman wearing a baby. So we stopped and I got out to follow him (DH and TickTock joined me later). Sure enough at the edge of the woods was a mother bear and 3 cubs (the top photo in my last post shows a couple of them). Anyway that man was sooooo obnoxious shushhing everyone(who were not making any noise anyway) and whisper/shouting how the mom was staring so she was getting ready to charge ar us all, and whisper/yelling at people down below on the road not to slam their car doors. ironically his camera snapping was the noisiest sound around. We laughed about him for the rest of the day!

He took a chance (REALLY STUPID) getting anywhere near a mother and her cubs. Not to mention there was a woman holding her own baby in the same vicinity? What is the matter with people??!! All for a photo?

Reminds me of (some tourist) people who watch for moose at night up in northern Maine. I saw a similar scenario of a woman who got out of her car to take a photo of a calf, about 20 feet away from the mother. :jawdrop: We, and some other people parked on the side, all yelled out to her to get out of there FAST!!

When we were at Yellowstone once, there were a bunch of people stopped because there was a bear right by the road. There was a narrow stream between the road and the bear, but it was only a couple feet wide, and the bear was only 30-40 feet off the road. Mom wouldn't even let us get out of the car....we could roll the window down just enough to take a picture and then she zoomed us out of there. But there was a kid about...10 or 11 maybe? feeding the bear marshmallows on a stick. I sure hope a ranger came along to put a stop to that before the kid got hurt. Stupid stupid people. The kid was across the creek, only 5 feet or so from a black bear. If that bear got tired of waiting, that kid would not have made it back to safety.

The Raptors are playing the Bucks. I don't really care about basketball, but it's pretty cool that the Bucks are still in it this deep into the playoffs. That never happens.
