@ajrwdwgirl Are you enjoying teacher appreciation week?

We got an email from our superintendent thanking us for our work. Tomorrow our town's ministerial association (run by my husband) is providing lunch for us and on Friday our principal is grilling us brats and burgers for our lunch. I was hoping for a cake from the PTA, they give us one every year, but nothing from them yet. And I really have a hankering for some cake. But other than that it is just the same old, same old?

How about you? Or @PUSH ? Any teacher appreciation acknowledgements in your districts?

Our PTC (Parent/Teacher Circle, essentially the PTA) cleaned and did some very minor refurbishments to our two workrooms. They put donuts and fruit in the workrooms yesterday. Tomorrow they are putting on a potluck with donations from families in the school. Friday they'll have ice cream for us. Our admin, though? Nothing. Oh, and our local Culver's gave all of us a free value basket coupon to use by Sunday. So on Thursday my team is doing Culver's for lunch.

Happy Teacher Appreciation Week to the both of you! Nurses are also celebrating their week now as well. May is big for celebrations. :)

Monday was bagels, bananas and oranges for breakfast. Today we had the principal pushing a snack cart to each teacher one at a time. Cookies....Croissants, snack bags like Cheetos or chips, bottled water or orange juice....and more. Very nice😎

Since it's Teacher Appreciation Week, does anybody want to give me $800 so I can improve my classroom library by adding a new rug, a floor table, and some wobble cushions for students to use at the floor table?

I've been looking at these items from Lakeshore Learning for the past few days, and I am LOVING them! They would make my classroom so much better!

I'd even offer to remove the rug from the order and bump the price down to $350. Any takers?

When you're the leader, you don't have to follow.
Classroom rugs are super expensive. The one I used the majority of my classroom budget on last year was around $400. You can't just get any household rug because it will be torn up in a couple months. I know from my first year of teaching.
Yeah, but for $400, you can get four $100 rugs and change your room decor every 2 1/2 months. 😉
