We went back to the rookery (technically a heronry I believe)this morning. It just cracks me up to see such big long-legged birds perching on tiny tree branches.

I figure you know this already, but birds are light. That's how they can hang out on scrawny branches.

All their feathers are just a smoke screen, in relation to their body size. For example, a buzzard might only weigh 3 pounds. Eagles range from 6.5 to 15 pounds. Some smaller birds only weigh 4 or 5 ounces--not even a pound!

I agree. This bird was virtually weightless.
