Ontario is banning cell phones in the classroom starting in September. This should be fun.

Should be interesting to see how that works! The kids are pretty good at hiding them. Our kids can have them with them, but aren't supposed to be using them without permission. I took two phones away last week, I was standing right next to each of them and they just picked up the phone and opened their snaps. I was like..."Really!" and snapped them up up out of their hands. They didn't even really realize what they had done it is like an automatic function for them now-a-days.

I do miss the days of kids just writing notes in class. When I found those I got some good info on the kids, there are even a couple funny ones that I kept. Ahhh, the good old days.

So many kids have terrible fine motor skills because all they do for fun is go on tablets and swipe the screen. They don't need to manipulate anything anymore or use fine motor skills too much.

Without a word of a lie, Mike handed me a printed site plan for his upcoming phase 2 release, and I couldn’t read the lot dimensions ... so I spread my thumb and index finger apart to expand the image.

Didn’t work.

The difference is, you already have fine motor skills. But I will admit, I've gone to touch my desktop screen like it's a touch screen. I'm so used to using my SMARTBoard and my laptop has a touch screen, too.

That may be true, but, following that logic, they should be still chiseling stone tablets instead of pencils or electronic tablets. Times move on and technology changes. We are a species that has always abandoned the skills of the past to participate in the future. You're young enough, do you really believe that those pencil pushers have finer motor skills then those that operate a controller for a video game. They have biceps on their thumbs and move at the speed of light during a game.
