Just crossed into NC, which I have to admit we were not expecting.

Yeah, that dotted line we assumed was the border between TN and GA (like it is on I-75) is altogether different on US-23/US-441.

Doesn’t help that there is a solid 30 minutes difference in arrival time between the car’s GPS and Waze.

They actually have to exchange money when they cross the border - eventually you have to break the big bills!

Our schools don’t go back until Monday.

We are leaving Florida today, but not back home until Saturday night.

We have a date with the Titanic and Dollywood coming up.

We went for a drive down the strip; mainly because we missed our turn for Subway (despite being given very clear instructions), but I didn’t have my phone with me. Shocking, I know.

I am very surprised. It’s absolutely delightful, and so festive. I’m not sure what I was expecting, but this is way nicer. Mike’s parents used to come to Pigeon Forge all the time, so I figured it would be stodgy and old fogey’ish. My bad for making assumptions.

I wasn’t overly hungry. Mike was.

It took me a minute to figure out why people were looking at us strangely ... even before they heard our total lack of accents.

Mike is wearing shorts, and I am wearing capris and flip flops. It’s 48F and drizzling.

My goodness, that is an amazing "room"!! (And I'm sure it's at a fraction of the price you'd pay if staying on property at WDW.) I'm really glad you're taking this side trip, before you head back to Canada -- every day I look forward to seeing what's next!

Glad you're loving the area - can't wait to hear what you think of Dollywood's Christmas. I much prefer it to WDW, for a lot of reasons. How is your knee doing,btw?

Good morning. Yes, it’s still morning.
We have a lovely balcony attached to our room - with these views:


Peeking around the corner of the balcony, you can see the restaurant where we will be having lunch in a couple of hours. We looked at the menu last night, and I assumed Mike would be getting the chicken fried something or other, but he also spied fried catfish, so I’m not sure what he’s getting.

We will have to come back sometime in the summer/fall, because this balcony begs to be used for coffee and croissants in the morning.
