Where in the World Isn't Bob Saget?

Attention All Sageteers and SageteerWannabes!

In anticipation of the upcoming Christmas season, it's time again to think about our Annual Holiday Avatar Gifting. For those who are unfamiliar with this long-standing tradition (OK, 5 years, but still...), every year we draw names and gift each other an appropriate personal avatar, which we use to brighten up the Saget thread (and wherever else we might post in this magical forum). To avoid leaving out anyone who might be interested in participating or wrongly assuming one is, I thought it might be a good idea to float an initial invitation to all who choose to post here, occasionally or regularly, to join the fun this December. Please let me know by next Friday (November 16th) if you want to participate this year, and I'll work on a schedule and details after that. Thanks!!

I'm not sure I completely understand....so you draw someone's name and you choose an avatar for that person? And how often do you send them a new avatar? When you say "appropriate" personal avatar, I assume you mean something that has to do with that person's hobbies, likes/dislikes, location, etc...but do we make a list of attributes so people can choose an appropriate avatar, or is it based on the person as you know them?

Sorry...I'm probably overthinking this, but my luck, I'd do the wrong thing and I'd hate to disappoint people.

I guess the degree of hot might also be connected with individual tolerances. I had a shaved headed friend that used to go to lunch with me in a very popular Chinese Restaurant. He literally poured the hot mustard on everything he ordered. Beads of sweat would appear on his head and run down his neck and face. I do not understand the degree of tolerance or how any pleasure is derived from the experience. To each his own I guess.

Hubs loves wasabi -- he'll down that (fire food) green stuff, and he'll break out into a sweat--but he loves it?! :jawdrop: Yah, to each his own . . .

To clarify:
Once we have a roster of participants, they'll be listed in some kind of order (maybe alphabetical by screen name, or numerical by birthdate, etc, not determined yet since I haven't had time to think about it), Each participant would then make one avatar for the person next on the list after their own name. Avatars can be anything related to the recipient, based on their likes, interests, hobbies, etc, just nothing mean-spirited. So for instance, if my name came after yours on the list, you know I'm a bit obsessed with bald eagles, so the "gift" might just be a bald eagle wearing a Santa hat or pulling a sleigh, or something silly like that. The recipient uses the gift avatar throughout the Christmas season. It's all in good fun and celebrates the cyber friendships we share here.

Sounds fun! Count me in, plus I've had my avatar way too long.
