Where in the World Isn't Bob Saget?

Yesterday was our anniversary, so we did a date night. My in-laws just got back from Lourdes, where my FIL was chosen for a trip for healing. There's a church oraganization that takes so many people there every year to pray over them and have them healed. My FIL was one of them, and the family all chipped in so my MIL could go with him. So they got back Friday night and then We brought the kids over Saturday and we went to Arnhem because I needed a few things I couldn't get in our town, and then we went to dinner at a newish Mexican restaurant we had been wanting to try. Then we went back to my in-laws, because there was also a carnaval there and my in-laws weren't up to going with the kids, so we took them, then dropped them back off and we went to see The Spy Who Dumped Me. And today is a veg day.

It was also the anniversary of Operation Market Garden in WWII, so there was a bunch of stuff going on in Arnhem. There was a scottish bagpipe and drum core that was really neat.

And where my in-laws live, it was the carnaval and every year they also have a parade of trucks and old American police cars and they take severely handicapped people to ride in them and everyone comes out of their houses and wave as they go by. I know it sounds kind of odd, but if you saw the looks of pure joy on the faces of the people who get to ride, it's really exciting for them. The trucks honk, and flash their lights, the police cars use their sirens....it's cool.

Let me start by saying that I stopped all heavy duty medication almost 48 hours ago ....

Three separate times today I have wondered why people are still yipping about Hallowe’en. Hallowe’en is over.

My somewhat still fuzzy head has taken the MNSSHP party, the costumes, and the candy and turned them into the actual event.

FYI - as of last night, the candy is gone. All of it.

:D Well at least the Bills have one fan in Ontario ;)
The Bills have tons of Ontario fans. Check the licence plates at any tailgate party.

(Not me, of course; I don’t follow sports. I am a Bills fan by proxy. It came with the engagement ring.)

ETA - I am also a Leafs fan, a Raptors fan, a Tar Heels fan, and an Eagles fan. My being a Jays fan predates our hooking up. (I found them on my own in 1985 - mainly because I was a Dave Stieb fan.)

There is a certain legitimacy to being a Tar Heels Fan, but, as for the rest...meh! The thing about the North Carolina fans is how diverse they are within their own state. In a very close proximity they have the Tar Heals, the Blue Devils and the Wolf Pack and they will only back one of them. It always seemed to me that they are representing NC no matter which one got the wins. However, take what I say about sports following with a grain of salt. I sometimes wish I could get all excited about a team or an individual (the closest I come is for Tiger Woods, but, even yesterday I was in the dining room talking with my daughter as he won his first tournament in quite a while). I was happy about it, but, he's the one that got 1.65 million for the win, I got to watch it. Now send me the 1.65 mil and I might even say yippee!

SCHWENKFELDER THANKSGIVING
Schwenkfelder Thanksgiving is observed annually on September 24.

The Schwenkfelders are the descendants of a small Protestant sect that sprang up in Germany around the time of the Reformation. They were followers of Caspar Schwenkfeld, a theologian. He and his followers separated from Protestant circles and formed the brotherhoods that still survive as the Schwenkfelder Church. Most Schwenkfelders now live in Pennsylvania Dutch country.

I hope that Cherries Jubiliee will become popular again. When I was a kid, my parents would take me to restaurants on special occasions, and sometimes we'd get cherries jubilee for dessert. :hungry:

It was so much fun when the waiter would pour in the brandy, and light a match. Talk about a table side show! :D (I likes me a little pyro with my ice cream dessert! :joyfull: )
My dad didn’t really like sweets; but he loved cherries jubilee.

And Coffee Crisp.

Mike is working for me for a couple of weeks, and for some reason is listening to Christmas music. (I’m not sure if it’s from his playlist or from my Disney BGM loop.)

Anyway, he called me up and said, “Your office is so cheerful. I think we should go to Disney for a few days next Christmas and stay at the Poly”.

Cheerful office - yes. That cheerful? Hmmmmm.

Did he take some of your pain meds?

One week post surgery, and I looked in my hamper this morning. I kid you not ... three facecloths and two nighties.

Time to switch things up. Today, I’m going to Saran Wrap my leg again, have a shower, and GET DRESSED! And then Mikey is taking Tammy and me out for dinner.

(That being said, I had my worst night yet, so I might need a nap or two first.)
