Where in the World Isn't Bob Saget?

Followed a chicken coop through a good portion of downtown Atlanta awhile ago. Yes, there were live chickens inside there. Not sure why I'm documenting this occasion.

Do I want to know how you know there are live chickens in there? It looks closed up pretty tightly. Are there windows? Do chickens behave like dogs with a window open, going down the highway?

7:00.
Mike: What time do you want to eat?
Me: No time soon.

10:45.
Me: Are you barbecuing any time soon?

11:15.
We eat. 🙄

Moral of the story - be more specific than “no time soon”.
Ah...I see I am not the only one with this issue. Tell me, do you also get the "Sure. Sounds great" and then he does something totally different like he wasn't listening to a word you said?

My parents did not have a/c in the house until I reached my late teens. We had a few fans only. Let me tell you that I was absolutely miserable in the hot weather, and it made me actually ill, sometimes. (To this day, I am still that way.)

Everyone reacts differently to either hot or cold weather. There's no one size fits all, so even if the people back in the early 1900s wore a lot of clothing layers in summer, I'll bet you there were some that passed out from heat exhaustion.
I have that same thing!! I get nauseated and headachy from the heat. We visited my family in Illinois on our way through to NYC. We stayed with a cousin who had an older house with only one bathroom, with a clawfoot bathtub. There was no Airco. So I woke up in the morning and it was upper 80s/low 90s, but I wasn't used to humidity.

I felt awful, I came downstairs, thinking I was going to be sick, so I was rushing to the bathroom, but my brother was in the tub. He LOVED that tub. And I knocked and asked how long he thought he'd be, and he bit my head off. He'd be done when he was done. The heat just makes me feel HORRID. I apparently passed out during softball practice once or twice. I don't remember it at all, but my mom told me I did, so I must have. My body just does not handle heat well.

I don't know how I deal with Disney, except that I'm determined. And I hydrate, and I suppose part of it is I'm not outside ALL the time...we go into attractions, or restaurants, and take breaks. I wish we had the option of going when it's NOT brutally hot, though!!

I think he was just waiting for “further direction”.

Either that or he had fallen asleep on the couch. 😂
Ah...my husband is the expert of "Agree with what she says and then do what I want anyway." I'll say "What do you say we eat around 11 and then head out the door and we can stop by such and such on the way out." And then he says "Sure, sounds good." And then at 11:30, he's still lying there with his nose in the computer screen, not showered or dressed and nowhere near ready to go. And when I ask him, he says "Oh....did you want to eat here? I thought we'd leave and have lunch on our way out around 1. "

When you're the leader, you don't have to follow.

Mike pretty much lets me call the shots. He generally doesn’t care.

You’d be hard pressed to find someone as easy going. Lord knows I have no intention of trying. 🙂

Mine is pretty easy going, too, but that's just it...if I don't light a fire under him, he's perfectly content to just play all day. It really doesn't matter to him. He's not a planner like I am, and while I'm not a plan every second kind of person, I do like to have a general outline. He's fine with whatever and isn't worried about whether we follow my plan or not.

Just got back to the motel room after doing some late-night exploring of the Turtle Beach area, approx. 10-minutes from where I'm staying.

Right across the street from the beach sits this very sentimental restaurant to me (my Mom LOVED this place, and I
had some good memories here growing up).

It sits overlooking the bay, and has excellent seafood. Try it out if ever you're in the neighborhood down here.

While on a long, Turtle Beach stroll tonight, I saw some commotion in the surf just ahead. There was some sort of spotlight flashing in and out of the water, two guys frantically rushing into the water with some gear...shining a light to observe something. But what was it? My first thought was, perhaps one of the namesake inhabitants of this beach (sea turtle) was nesting. As I got closer to the activity, I realized it wasn't a sea turtle...but a bull shark!

These men had caught, were measuring, tagging, and releasing a decent-sized bull shark. Quite fascinating, to say the least. Here's a short video I shot of them finishing up the measuring, and then releasing it back into the ocean:

I talked to them after they were finished. Turns out, they do this all over various coastlines as partly a hobby, but also to volunteer help local authorities monitor migration patterns of different aquatic species. One of the men told me that they have documented sharks which have previously been tagged as far away as Australia! It was really fascinating talking to them and learning of the different catches they've made over the years for research.

Okay, to bed I go. Heading further south tomorrow.

Wow....so do they just get a call in the night and they come to tag and release whatever animal it is? I'm assuming they also have "day jobs" since you said this was hobby/volunteer work. Cool that you got to watch!

Turtles! Been there! (coincidentally we've also seen a shark there (a very small one though)

Sounds like you're having a great time

I know it's a few weeks away, but what in heaven's name do you get for a Father's Day gift, for a man who is 90? (Hubs' father) We usually end up sending him food (like Omaha Steaks--they also have fish and chicken by the way). Just wish there was something else for a change.
