Did you see that cathedral in Cologne (köln)? It's beautiful. It's only about an hour, hour and a half from where I live.

It was so impressive we toured it twice in the same trip, 5 or 6 days apart. Started and ended in the Netherlands, and spent about 5 days staying with a friend near Frankfurt in between.

it was awesome. When you step off the train it's there right in front of you - so impressive! I always marvel at how they were able to build such amzing buildings so long ago.

Me too. Not just the technical side of it, but the politics and economics of it. "Let's start building something that's incredibly expensive but won't be finished for hundreds of years."

Oh I wish I'd had that experience! We drove, and I was pregnant with DS at the time and was in a wheelchair because I couldn't walk. Well...I COULD walk, it was just excruciating. So DH had to push me in a wheelchair up this huge hill and I felt SOOOO bad. We really should go back there now that I'm mobile again! But I know it was gorgeous and imposing.

For the past few weeks or so I've been keeping an eye on a bird I've seen flying quite high around here. He's quite big, but is never really close enough to get a good look at. The other day I noticed a nest in a tower behind the police station so I went over to the pond nearby this morning with my camera and here's what I found:
It's a pair of ospreys, and since that nest is probably less than a mile from here, I'm pretty sure that's what I've been seeing.
