We were supposed to get a dusting to an inch but it looks like 4 and it's still snowing. I actually don't completely mind being up - I'll workout then clear the driveway and hopefully have enough time to color my hair. Had the phone call come in 10 minutes earlier I'd be snoring and we wouldn't be having this conversation.

We took a short trip over to Myakka Park this morning. @Batman would have loved it.

Besides the usual gators there we saw some roseate spoonbills





and a red shouldered hawk

There were white pelicans on the river


and various other herons and bitterns and egrets (oh my)

On the way back we had to go right by one of my favorite eagle nests so we stopped to say hello...



and as soon as I shut off my camera he flew off. I did get a couple of pictures, but nothing too great...

@Nemo14 - I'm sure I've asked this before, but what camera are you using? The shots are awesome.

For most of those I use a Canon PowerShotSX60HS. It's basically a point-and-shoot, but it takes awesome photos.

Home away from home!!!

Any kayakers out today? Glad to see the river has thawed from your arctic blast into the 60's the night prior.

No kayakers at all. The park was pretty empty, which was nice. It was cool and windy (my sister was dressed like she was going through the blizzard of 18) so I was a bit surprised at how many gators we saw. We also saw a bald eagle there - flew directly over us just as we got out of the car at the boat ramp place (whatever it's called). No time to get the camera out for that one though.

I mean, you can't make this stuff up.

This morning's news story that made me laugh was about the woman with the emotional support peacock, who was denied passage on a United flight yesterday! She argued with the crew and said that she had even bought a separate seat for the peacock, but they would not let her take the bird on the plane, due to various restrictions. (I think she ended up driving to her destination.)
