Where in the World Isn't Bob Saget?

Ugh New Year’s Eve. We’ve already started the “What do you want to do? Nothing, what do you want to do?” dance.

The truth is - our ideas of “nothing” don’t quite align. By nothing, I mean - go to the show, come home and hop in the hot tub. His idea of nothing is driving out to his brother’s, watching the Leafs, and drinking all night. Can you say bo-ring?!?!

I won’t make a big deal out of it either way because I just couldn’t care less, but let’s just say - if (when!) he gets this cold and is too sick to go out, that will be fine too.

Luckily, our "nothing" aligns. We oder take-out Chinese food, sparkling apple cider (non-alcoholic), and watch TV until I konk out (usually by 9:30  . . . I'm just not a late night person). He'll watch various shows and play on the computer until around 2 AM.

Years ago we used to go to the big fancy places that had dinner buffets, a band, and noisemakers for midnight. But they crammed in so many people, and the food wasn't great, so we stopped throwing away money. As for house parties, no one we know has them, and everyone is just hanging out at home on New Year's Eve. Not very exciting, but If nothing else, it helps us to avoid the drunks on the road late in the evening.

I LOVE new reading material. What did you get besides the travel books? I didn't get any new reading material, but my MIL knitted me a Ravenclaw scarf, and I bought myself a Ravenclaw tote bag today. And I got myself Hogwarts castle bedding for Christmas. And we bought my DS the entire HP book set in Dutch.

Besides being graced by my presence, did anyone get anything exciting for Christmas?

I got some things for my classroom that I'm excited to introduce to the kids.
We mostly do presents only for the kids. I got a Ravenclaw scarf and I bought myself Hogwarts bedding...that was the extent of my Christmas loot, really. But I took DD to see Pitch Perfect 3 today, so I guess that's kind of a Christmas present. It was fun. I love that she is getting to the age now where she can enjoy some of the humor. I've got her watching Gilmore Girls now and Full House and Fuller House, and reading Harry Potter, and she loves Pitch Perfect. Hopefully she'll also get into the other YA stuff like Hunger Games, Twilight, Percy Jackson, Narnia...then we can talk about books!! She's turning into a very fun kid!!

I like your idea of nothing a little better than Mike's.

If hubs and I ever do anything on New Years we are usually home by 7pm, we don't want to be out much later because of the drunks on the roads too. Although in 2015 we spent New Years Eve at Disneyland, now that was a party!

I’ve got tickets and a hotel room ... and cancellation insurance on everything, in case things don’t pan out.

This is the first available concert not sold out, and it just happens to be the day after our 25th wedding anniversary. We were planning something special, so this fits the bill perfectly, no?
