Where in the World Isn't Bob Saget?

Wow. You just took me back to years ago when I was a kid. My grandmother used to always have those hard candies at Christmas. Her livingroom had the Christmas tree, knicknacks on the shelves, mismatched pieces of furniture, white cotton doilies on all the side tables (doilies were a "thing" back then ;) ), and those hard candies in a glass bowl..

Isn't it interesting how small things can have such an impact on us.
The ribbon candies are a must have every Christmas. We would always eat them at my grandparents. They couldn't afford much but that was a little luxury during the holidays.

I just bought 4 plastic containers (with lids) at the supermarket last weekend, because they had a good sale price. Wasn't sure what I was going to do with them at the time, but now I think I should leave them on your porch, and you can fill them with cookies for me. :D

Will swing by before work in the morning to retrieve my containers; and I won't ring the bell, because I know you would be up late baking cookies for my containers. Feel free to sleep in.

Coincidentally we just replaced our doorbell today...

I’ll bring milk. We’ll have a party on Nemo’s front porch.

If I only had a front porch....

We had a neighbor when I was a kid who always gave us a box of ribbon candy for Christmas - we thought it was soooooo special! And when we went to see Santa he always gave us a little box of those hard candies. My sister and i would fight about the raspberry ones.
like the pink ones here...

Holly sleeps a lot. Essentially all day; just waking once to eat, and a couple of times to go out.

She is up so seldom now, that the second Max hears Holly’s tags jingle, she tears across the house to make sure that the dog is okay. She also acts as a seeing eye-cat, guiding Holly up and down the stairs.

It’s cute, but sad. Max will be devastated when Holly’s time comes. She spends a lot of time with her - mauling her (which Holly really just tolerates), but also cuddling her, licking her, and just watching over her.

If Holly passes in her sleep, Max will let me know.

It's amazing how empathetic pets can be for each other and for their owners.

The raspberry ones were the best.
Mike picked up Taco Bell. I have no idea what exactly as I don’t eat that carp, but this is all that remains:

How much hot sauce does one person need?
Not much - which is why there’s always so much left over!

My mother had the white doilies everywhere, too..her mother crocheted them. I have them, and I still use the one on the piano because it "belongs" there. It was my mom's piano, and that doily was on the piano for as long as I can remember. The piano came with me and the doily and clock on top came with it and they still live there.

Stick a doily on the back of a chair or sofa and it’s called an antimacassar.

Google macassar, and then you’ll know why we need an “anti”.

Silly note - when I took an interior decorating course decades ago, “antimacassar” was the first term we learned. Right, ‘cause antimacassars are so 80’s.

It would be very interesting to see the floor plan of that house. It looks almost as if the right side, above the double garage is a semi-separate in-law suite or teen retreat, attached only by a hallway running across the back of the house.

I would also expect that there is a second staircase servicing this area.
