I have this tremendous sense of déjà vu.
The Tigers had home-field advantage and were heavily favored in the series. The Cards had just burned up their best starting pitchers against the Mets in the NLCS, and had to start rookie Anthony Reyes (5-8, 5.06 ERA) as a sacrificial lamb against Verlander in Game 1 in Detroit. Reyes won 7-2, and the Cards went on to win in just 5 games.

Tiggers were even worse in the 2012 WS against SF, losing in 4.
