Where in the World Isn't Bob Saget?

A couple of things - keeping in mind that I am the least informed person you will ever meet when it comes to music. (If I cared even a bit, I would be embarrassed. :hilarious:)

1 - I just discovered this song a week or so ago, when something I was reading made reference to “4000 holes in Lancashire”. Clearly I had no idea what it meant, so I Googled it.

2 - This of course led me to the song. The whole time I’m waiting for “... ah, look at all the lonely people”. Ummmm yeah, turns out that’s a different song, from a different album no less.

3 - Having Googled the lyrics and watched the video (again), what does this have to do with 1985?

4 - Aside from 1967 (the year this song was released and the year I was born), 1985 was actually the most seminal year in my life.

Good questions! First off... it's "4000 holes in Blackburn Lancashire" but that small error aside it was mentioned in a song and probably referred to 1985 (the novel). You know big brother and all that stuff.

Being Cananadian does not make it acceptable that you would have to look up things related to The Beatles. These are things you should have been raised on. (although I will admit that they were pretty much broken up by the time you got out of diapers, nappies if you will.) It is ironic that you are discovering this stuff just before you go back to nappies.

George Orwell’s novel was 1984. ;)

We grew up listening to Steppenwolf and Iron Butterfly. Despite having been raised in Brighton, my mom was never a Beatles fan. (Sadly, she ended up fully embracing disco a few years later.)

When John Lennon died in December 1980, my friend Donna told me that her sister had been crying all day. I didn’t even know who John Lennon was. The airwaves shortly thereafter were absolutely bombarded with songs from the album that had just been released prior to his murder. I didn’t care for a single song from that album ... even less so after hearing them a dozen times/day for months.

Good point... 1984.. the 80's are a blur to me. What with child raising, career problems and Canadian in-laws I was occupied. My mistake, but, it didn't really change the discussion. One would have had to have been living in a cave under a rock to not have heard of John Lennon. There wasn't a lot from that album worth anything more then nostalgia anyway. Both Paul and John were a great team, but, not as good as individuals. John did more good stuff on his own then Paul, but, nothing to the degree of the Lennon/McCartney combo.

I was such a fan that my employees at work tried their best to not let me hear about it for fear that I would go over the edge. I was upset, of course, but, by that time in my life very little surprised me.

I was 13 when Lennon died. 13 year olds 35+ years ago are nothing like today’s 13 year olds.

Long day of cleaning up after the storm. Lots of people still without power - some schools are closed for tomorrow too.

This morning, 300,000 in MA without power. Luckily, I wasn't one of them. A friend of mine at work lost her power, but they have a generator at her house. So, first thing this morning, her hubs went out to buy gas. Problem was, that many of the gas stations in the area were without power--and he had a lot of driving around to to do, to find one that was open!! :jawdrop:

We had power, but most of our town did not. The town I grew up in had a 100% loss of power, and is still without power tonight.

I couldn't stop watching it... nd I really don't care who wins.
Well, I have this friend who hates the Dodgers because of something they did in 1988, and the Astros are AL and have never won, and Mike is rooting for LA just to be contrary, so I'm all in on the Astros.

Plus, Houston needs some good news.

I smashed my knee off of the corner of the glass coffee table. Still trying to decide whether or not to cry. I did say a couple of bad words, but of the minor league variety; none of the big guns.

For the amount it hurts, I’d better have a whopping big bruise tomorrow! :arghh: :hilarious:
