So weird. We call it "hydro". Americans never know what we're talking about. :hilarious:
Well, dear sweet Canandian lady... Hydro means that the power is produced by water driven turbines. I believe that the full wording is Hydro-power. Not all electrical power is generated by that method. So as usual our wonderful northern friend you are using a simplified definition for a complex system. Ontario probably is hitched on to Niagara Power and Quebec has their big Hydro system up north. I doubt that the whole country is nothing but Hydro. Pretty much everyone past 200 miles above the US border still uses whale oil/blubber for their power needs. So which one of us doesn't know what they are talking aboat, eh!

Oh you adorable man ... NOBODY lives 200 miles north of the US border, except the Inuit; and we all know they burn whale blubber for heat and light. It's not like they need hydro for their fridges and freezers. The whole igloo is a freezer. ;)

Legit though, in Ontario and la belle province, we do indeed call it "hydro". I always laugh when Judge Judy calls it "electric".

Well, it's even because we tend to smirk a lot and sigh when you folks call it Hydro. The water coming out of your faucets happens to be hydro.. the power coming through your power lines is known as electricity. I'll bet you have never seen hydro oozing out of your light bulbs.
And if you have it's probably already to late to make it to the ark!

Heading off to DC today, then back home tomorrow.

Now is a good time to visit DC, before the heat and humidity arrive in a few weeks. I was there many years ago, and it's a fun place to visit.

One attraction that some people aren't aware of is the National Zoological Park (National Zoo), at 3001 Connecticut Avenue, NW. It's FREE, and open today from 8-5. Did you know that 12 cheetah cubs (2 mothers) were born there at the end of March?! I saw photos--they are so CUTE!!

Careful - I hear the trip is so treacherous some residents don't dare attempt it.

Do you mean traffic jams, etc.? I've heard that the cherry blossoms bring in crowds of tourists each year, and hotels sell out. I've never seen the cherry blossoms, but I have seen gorgeous pictures of them. Apparently, some years the blooms are more spectacular than others.
