I really wanted to like this post, but then you manage to get a political swipe in and somehow make it into a worse scenario than the loss of your grandmothers and father losing his job.

What is your problem? Thanks for assuming that I was talking about political happenings. That is just a small part of what has been going on this year and tough if you don't think that I should have any feelings about it. I have as much right to feel worried and upset about what is going on in the world as you do to be wearing your everything is wonderful face. I've always enjoyed your posts here, but, if you don't like what I say... please feel free to put me on ignore.

My aunt had one of those! I was always jealous. My grandma had a big giant green fake one in the living room that was so covered with decorations you couldn't see what color the tree was and my aunt, who is around 15 years younger than my mom, had a silver one in her room. They lived in an apartment in Brooklyn and her window faced the street so you could see the tree when you drove up (and see it every time you drove around the block looking for a parking spot). I thought it (and she) was just the coolest.

I'm going to make time and a half on Thanksgiving, so I'm okay with the hours. I have an 8-hour shift from 4am-noon where I'm likely just doing online orders, which is pretty much just working in the back away from the crazies. That night I work from 6pm-midnight at service desk, so that should be fun. Black Friday I have a 12 hour shift from 10am-10pm on the floor. We shall see what that will entail. I'm pretty much trained everywhere in the store, so I could be doing anything.

They have good food in the break room both days I believe, so that's a nice bonus. I'll probably have a Thanksgiving meal in the morning, then with my family, head home and take a nap, then go back to work and have more food at night.

Aaaah, to be young again. I think that schedule would kill me.

Hubby and I will not be contributing to the Black Friday mayhem. We are planning our yearly shopping getaway for a couple of days later.

My mom has most of her shopping done. She's one who likes to get everything taken care of as soon as possible, and does a lot of her shopping online.

I'm done too, more or less. Just need socks and underwear for the kids, and Hubby's gift.

Our shopping getaway is equal parts shopping and getaway. We started doing it at a time when our life was a lot more hectic. It was an excuse to run away.
I'm not sure if our life could be any less hectic this year , but that's no excuse to break with tradition.

Now to decide if we're going for one night or two.
