All I could think of when I read this was riding in the back of the family car as a kid, with my brothers and sister. With four of us in the back, you could always count on some sort of fracas. My father wasn't keen on listening and/or pandering to any of our dramatics, and his solution was to say, "Stop it! Stop it NOW, or I'll turn around this car and we'll all go home." We shut up.
I pity the parents who get suckered into spending goodness knows how much money for an entertainment system for their kids, when all they have to do is just say a few words . . .

Anyone watch the entire Opening Ceremonies last night? (I know a few of you saw at least some of it.) Really enjoyed the opening production, and considering they didn't have a huge budget for it, I thought they did a great job--very entertaining and creative. I think they captured the culture and energy of the region.
Rapper Karol Conka, who apparently is a major star in Brazil, stood out with her performance. I normally don't even like rap, and I haven't a clue if she was rapping in Portuguese or Spanish, but I really liked it.

I watched the Nationals game for a while, then my daughter wanted to watch the Olympics. I let her change the station but I didn't stay to watch.

I watched a lot of it, but I got too tired and went to bed and fell asleep with it on. I think I made it to the "S" countries. I'm glad the USA was in with the E's otherwise I wouldn't have seen them. I was okay going to sleep because we were recording it, so I was confident I could watch the rest today. Hubby just told me that the show ran long and he didn't think I wanted to watch it so he deleted what we had and didn't get the extension.
I guess he didn't hear me say, "Well I'm going to bed, I'm glad we are recording it so I can watch the rest tomorrow."I thought the opening was well done too, at least the numbers I saw at the beginning. I thought the rainforest to city part was cool, and I was amazed those ropes didn't get all tangled.

I tuned out during the parade and watched the rest this morning.
The way NBC covered it (constantly talking and cutting every 2 seconds to a different shot) was honestly ruining what looked like a very nice show.
