Where in the World Isn't Bob Saget?

Shepherd's pie is good too.

My Nan used to make the best home-made shepherd's pie, that made all others pale by comparison; much like my Baba made the best ever pierogi.

And Baba's borscht (beet greens and all) ... don't even get me started!

Slurp.
I wrote my post craving Shepherds pie, now I want pierogis too. And I only know how to make the frozen ones.

My son loves peas. I put the frozen ones in a bowl, cover with water, microwave 2 minutes, drain the water and sprinkle with garlic salt. He would eat a giant full cereal bowl of peas with every meal if I made them. He also likes string beans and broccoli. Always fresh or frozen - never canned.

I despise peas, except for fresh peas in a pod, straight out of the garden. Years ago, a friend of mine had a vegetable garden and she opened up a pea pod and challenged me to eat the peas. So I tried a few and wow--what a difference. They were tasty and sweet, right out of the pod--nothing like when you get them in the store, either frozen or canned. It was like I was eating an entirely different vegetable! ;)

When I was little I kept eating the peapods from my mom's garden and giving myself a tummyache. So my mom told me to stop eating the peapods. The next day she went to pick them and found empty pods hanging from the plants. Apparently, I had carefully extracted the peas and left the pods hanging.

I found that you don't have to even cover them with water. I use a small paper bowl, put them in the bowl frozen, into the micro blaster for a minute and a half and that does it. I do the same thing with canned corn and it works good that way as well.

I even found a thing on the internet where you can cook corn on the cob, without taking off the husk, in the micro. It is so handy and cleaner. When it's done cooking (very short time) the entire husk, silk and all, the cob just slides right out the bottom. Sort of like squeezing a tube of toothpaste. I love it! The husk is in one piece and easy to dispose of with no mess.

My wife, who was famous for her serious lack of humor, used to get so upset with me for that. I'd harvest the peas and between myself and my girls they never made it into the kitchen. I still go to the Farmers market and buy raw peas and use them for snack food. They are harder to find now because the big thing is currently "snap peas". They are usually picked before the peas have matured. I don't mind eating the pods as well, but, I prefer just the peas.

When you're the leader, you don't have to follow.
Gotta love it when you phone Purchasers to come in and select their exterior brick package, and they don't know who you are.

Me - Hi, it's Jennifer from blank-blank Homes. I'm calling to let you know that it's your turn to come in and select your bricks.
Purchaser - Jennifer? Blank-blank Homes? Which project is this again?

Seriously people, how many $900,000 homes have you purchased in the past six weeks that you don't immediately know which office I'm calling from.

And lest you think I'm exaggerating - it's happened four times so far, out of nine contacts.
