Where in the World Isn't Bob Saget?

First day back and I am already ****ed off on this forum. People trying to tell me what is and isn't possible and what I can and can't achieve. I will never buy into their BS "the cards are stacked against you, the game is rigged, so why bother trying" philosophy. Why would anyone with aspirations and in their right mind ever buy into that? You want to settle for mediocrity, go for it...but I don't need a lecture on the realities of what is possible because decided to settle.

Really, it is my own fault for venturing into these threads...
A lot of people have the Exploder guy on ignore.

We're doing a boat tour this morning through the Everglades

Wow! That sounds like fun. Wish I had done that years ago. Instead, (at that time), I met up with a friend of mine down there from Kissimmee. I had seen an ad for "drive yourself" ;) airboats. Of course, I told her we had to go! :joyfull: So we did.

Neither one of us had a clue how to drive it, and the guy that rented the boats only gave us a very quick "lesson" . . . so to speak . . . o_O. She refused to drive it, so that left me, and off we went into the swamps with ME driving  !! (Um. . . it seemed like a good idea at the time . . . didn't look too difficult . . . :hilarious: )

That thing was noisy with the giant fan in the back, and that was good because it muffled out our screams when I nearly drove into another boat! You should have seen the looks on their faces as we missed each other by less than an inch of space. :p How on earth I ever made it back to the dock with both of us, still aboard and unscathed from our wild adventure, I'll never know! :D

Funny, there's a part of me that really wants to go back there, try it again, and "redeem" myself. :p

In reality, the airboats are tricky to maneuver. One of the toughest things was trying to figure out how far the boat would glide, even when you pulled back on the power. You see, with a car, you apply the brake and stop. But on the water, you cut the power and you still keep moving, depending upon the current in the water. That's what I couldn't wrap my head around, and that's why I nearly crashed into another airboat. Heck, I grew up in a cosmopolitan area up North--what do I know about driving airboats through the Florida swamps?! :D

A lot of people have the Exploder guy on ignore.

It makes life easier but reading some threads a lot harder.

I opted for both.

Well our boat ride was not as adventurous as Minnie's. In fact it was rather dull by comparison. We saw a few dolphins and one manatee, but nothing too exciting really. We did go back to the eagle nest though, and even found another one over on the other side of the island. Here's the adults from that nest:

Yeah, I don't think it would be easy. Glad you didn't crash! A little unrelated but isn't your WDW trip coming up soon? What's the countdown?

Oh my . . . I honestly tried about 3 times (with multiple attempts each time) to figure out that countdown ticker thing. I wanted to put it up like others have, to surprise people. Oh well. I leave on a 6 a.m. flight on May 15 and return in the evening on May 18.

I can't figure out the countdown thing on here either. It just isn't in the cards for me...;)

This reminded me, when we drove to the hockey game Saturday night, a bald eagle swooped right down in front of our windshield while we were on the highway. It was kind of cool.

No eagles were harmed during the driving.
