1. get to top of my containment unit.
2. climb mini blinds.
3. ???
4. freedom!

When my sister was a summer camp counselor she brought home a pet mouse. At the end of the summer she brought home another. Both male. Well...so we thought. We woke up one morning and there were babies. We separated them. Apparently mice work fast because a few weeks later there were MORE babies. We had them all in glass cages and went out for the day and came home and the lid was open. And they were gone. We found all but one. That night when my sister was asleep she heard the running wheel spinning - but the wheel wasn't in the cage! That's how we found the last one. I think she "donated" them to a pet store at some point after that. I don't know what happened from there...but I can guess.

I haven't really eaten today, and I've had zero protein or fibre, so at 9:45, I decided to kill two birds with one stone.

I opened up a can of Bush' baked beans and heated them in the microwave. While they were warming up, I rinsed out the can to take to recycling, and noticed we might be a little past the best before date of July, 2015.

Surely you know I ate them anyway, so if by some slight chance I am complaining of stomach pains tomorrow, feel free to tell me I deserve it.

That "best before" date thing is just a recommendation ... right?!
I've always been a firm believer that the addition of the "best before" silliness was one of those things that the food industry came up with to make you throw away perfectly good food and buy some more. I recently found a can of stuff, behind a curtain of other things that I brought with me when I moved from Vermont in 2011. Needless to say the date was past, however, I ate it anyway and it was fine, tasted the same to me (canned goods of course) It's sealed tight nothing can get into it that wasn't there when they sealed the can. Heated up properly will take care of anything, for the most part, anyway.

But, kudos for your bravery and willingness to be a rebel in the pursuit of sustenance. Always remember that there are many cultures that eat worms, and live bugs. I think a properly sealed can will present little to no problem. My biggest concern for the foolishness was when they put those dates on, and people worried about them, for soft drinks. We always knew when the date was past because it was flatter then twiggy. (a very skinny model from the 60's for those of you that are age challenged.)

Thunderstorm just rolled through here which produced a good amount of hail...surprised the heck out of me, but surprised my dog even more. I moved one of his beds under my desk so he could hide under there while I worked. He likes to be close during storms, haha.

I have one dog that's scared of loud noises and one that is completely unphased. It's funny watching them interact when there's a storm going on (or fireworks).

This is the first we are hearing of a dog, no?
What kind?

This is the biggest "best before" farce:

You know what's funny?
While not entirely true, honey is one of a few foods purported to never spoil. Apparently it has been discovered in numerous tombs in the Pyramids and was still edible.

Mustard is another food that supposedly never spoils.

From what I hear...a lot of the best by labels are somewhat bogus and typically food lasts longer...

Is the date December 2017? Too many numbers for me.

At least you're not near your office when 150,000 people descend on 5th Avenue.
BB/MA - Best Before/Meilleur Avant 12/18/17.

Guaranteed to be gone within a week or two, so no biggie.
Hubby's been working with a Brit for the past three years, and has switched to putting honey in his tea.

I used to hate the taste of honey but somewhere along the way I reversed my opinion completely and now have been known to really overload my tea with it. Only regular black tea though. I typically drink either Earl Grey or Green tea and I don't sweeten those.
