I suppose, but, if your family knows that you got on a ship and the ship sank and no one has seen you since then, there is a pretty good chance that closure is possible without the physical evidence. However, I guess that denial is a pretty strong thing amongst people.
That's what they did with John - John Kennedy. They knew he got into the plane, the plane took off and then disappeared. They spent millions to find the wreckage, got the bodies, I assume dressed them up nice an pretty and then threw him back in the ocean. There were a couple of steps there in the middle that seemed unnecessary to me.
I'm waiting for someone to catch it.
