holy crap, talk about chained luck!
XD

It was a trip that we really hadn't planned on, booked last minute, we had been already in the fall but my son was starting high school and was taking an AP class to get ahead and was pretty stressed out. He had a week break and we decided to bolt. It was a bonus trip for us as we already had APs and the bonus' kept coming.

I have only seen one movie of his. Dead Poets Society. Even that I had to look his name up for I had no clue who he was.
I didn't even recognize him at first. Fans around us pointed him out. I remember him from Muppets in Space, Dead Poets Society, but mostly The Good Wife. Like I said, this is Baltimore. We get excited about local celebrities. People in SoCal would find us as ridiculous as we find their view of rain.

What a great deal. :) AKL is on my bucket list.

I have mixed emotions about AKL. It is so pretty in that lobby but in all honesty we didn't spend a whole lot of time in the lobby, the food venues were on different levels, just the side door to the bus and small gift shop was off in the corner. The pool was so nice but there were lots of non resort guests wandering the resort so not peaceful like POR or some other resorts are. I feel that way about the Contemporary too. Now the animal rooms are cool when the animals are around but the landscaping out there is mostly dead trees and dirt. Some find that beautiful, me I loved the Poly type landscaping better. There is also little grounds. There are some paths out by the animals but not the wandering space that the moderates have. The standard rooms in the resort are almost identical square footage to the moderates, that surprised me. What additional space there is is the door goes past a closet then bathroom, that is the extra, beyond that the usable footage is the same. The balcony room over the pool was nice. I really liked the inside hallway though. It was nice when it rained or if you wanted something to eat you didn't have to go outside if you didn't want to. It has been many years but the buses were sucidoodles and have been when we returned to eat there. I really did love the resort but I have a hard time paying so much to stay there when all and all I enjoyed POR more despite how pretty it was.

Totally understand! :)
I took a leaded glass class and copper foil after that. LOVED them both, especially the copper foil. Next up was glass/tile mosaic, but, the store closed shortly after that. :(swaqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqq

OK, had to leave that last part up there 'cause new puppy put his paws on my keyboard...!!!
I was getting ready to introduce y'all to hiqm incdfv...and, that there too...!!!!! :joyfull:

Anyway, no name settled on, just yet... :)

Lookin' forward to seein' your finished products. Your "crafts" are art...!!! :)

Eeeeeeee how cute! Congrats!

And thank you!

@Soarin' Over Pgh How many fingers do you have glued together? :joyfull:

...four. Haha :)

The cats and dogs...ticked me off. I got them all put together, hand sewn, stitched, painted, and stuffed. The last step is sewing them closed and...the won't stand upright. They. Won't. Stand. Up. I tried everything and it didn't work, so I threw them in,y scrap box and shoved it in the closet.

I'm all packed up and ready for the show tomorrow, minus stupid cat and dog plushes. I'm taking a few extra floral arrangements instead.

Grrrrr!

It has poured here all evening. Tonight's our Homecoming game but I decided to skip it this year.

We did the rain and KaBooms last night and through morning. We were to get 2 inches of rain but got one inch which is more than enough with this temperature. My DD is going to head down to U of I at dawn to see a football game. I broke out the handwarmers for her. She doesn't like football but her friend does and she doesn't pass up the opportunity to Go Home again.

66 and rain tomorrow...yes and hockey starts next week

I would love to own that family. I'd have so much fun with them.

Preseason Hockey was tonight. BlackHawks had scrimmage last week and 20,000 fans showed up to it. We're ready for some Hockey.

You called that!

My DH is not a stupid man by any means. Every once in a while that tunnel vision sets in and he doesn't look at the big picture when there is a task at hand. Sawing a piece of wood on our patio table or painting window frames on our kitchen table 'cause it is too cold outside. Mind you we have every tool and saw horse available to Macho Man.
He doesn't do stuff like this often or at least while I'm around to witness it. Come to think of it, it generally happens when I've been out and come home to it...

:hilarious: No offense to the gentlemen on the forum here, but that does sound like a bit of a "guy" thing!

I am so HAPPY for you, to see that you have a new little friend.   He looks part Lab, maybe? I thought that because the paws looked a little big, and because of his face and ears. Does Belle love him too? He moved into a loving home, and he'll have a wonderful life there.

I really did love the resort but I have a hard time paying so much to stay there when all and all I enjoyed POR more despite how pretty it was.

I've stayed there a few times since it opened, years ago. I'd always choose Arusha Savannah for my view from the guest room. (Note: I see that they're charging more now for Arusha . . . unreal.) I loved watching the animals from my balcony. You mentioned the gift shop being small, but actually it's a fairly decent size, or at least is now (I stopped by there on my trip in May). They have some very nice African-themed merchandise, and it's one of the better shops on property, I think. Your comment about the pool raised my curiosity: I think what's happening there is that there are also guests from the AK DVC complex (which is large) that also come over. I think they have their own pool as well, but can use both. Regardless, that pool was the first one at WDW to have zero entry. I really liked that pool. There's also a heath club near the pool as well. The last time I stayed at AKL, was just prior to them building that DVC complex. I haven't stayed there since, as I thought it just took away from the ambiance of the area, but that's just my opinion only. i also know they converted some of the upper level floors in the lodge to DVC; I think they also still have some club rooms as well up there.

Anyway, @Cesar R M will have a great time at AKL. I truly think the main lodge's lobby is gorgeous and the theming throughout is lovely. I liked their quick service restaurant (interesting food selections for a QS, along with the traditional fare). I think it's called The Mara. As for the bus service, I found it adequate, and like you mentioned, it is a covered area in case it rains.

It's a "guy" thing in that we see the world differently then "females". To us an empty table is an extension of our tool belt. We need a place to put things, we find a flat surface and it becomes a work station. It's not personal, it's strictly business. Chances are we will do little to no damage to it and if we do, we either fix it or replace it. It's called prioritizing the object, location, risk and immediate need.

Good luck with your show. Are the cats/dogs supposed to have weights in the bottom for stability?
