Yep, love 'em both, but, I knew me some Looney Tunes before Muppets...

Might make a good weekend theme sometime, too...! :)

Yep, the Looney's were a great addition to Six Flags.

Am I the only one who was never into Muppets or Looney Toons?:cautious:
seems so..
Maybe its time to watch some episodes in youtube?
Very much like the bird I posted a few hours ago. He is amazingly long in leg and wing. So cool to see him fly. He has been around for about 3 years now. Not usually around these parts. He goes from a huge county detention pond to the river and repeat. I don't see him in the winter so he must snow bird it but comes back.
I've never seen anymore than just him. Wonder what is up with that.

I have never seen a Flamingo fly. All the ones I've seen have had their wings clipped. :(
Same with our swans, they clip their wings before their first birthday. :cautious:

maybe they migrate? or perhaps this guy is alone?

As for flamingos and swans.. why the hell would they do that? is an airport nearby?

Dear god!, You have to invite me there some day ! ;)

45 minutes from the Magic Kingdom. As I aged in my childhood we stopped going all the way down to Ft. Lauderdale and we would stay in St. Petersburg for a couple of months each spring. The food was amazing there and that is where I learned to love chops, steak and fishies. Slurp.

These chops are called Florida BBQ.

You aren't going to start talking about the last film bombing now are you?
Nope. Now I like the Muppets. Growing up...er, not so much. It wasn't ever in, and the only film we had was Muppets in Space. Now I've seen more of them, and I like them, but I don't go out of my way for them. Growing up I didn't like Sesame Street either. I hate to say it, but I really don't like Looney Toons. Except for Sylvester and Tweetie. My favorite classic cartoon is Tom and Jerry. See a pattern? Yup. Some things never change.

I think it is your age. My DD has no attachment or much exposure to these characters, they faded for a while on children's TV. Looney's were still around for my son and he loved the Muppet Christmas, McDonalds did a fantastic happy meal tiny stuffed toy series of Muppets, Kermit, Piggie etc in Christmas outfits so DS had the exposure.

Me I grew up with Looney's on Saturday morning TV and the early movies of Muppets were much better than these.
Both Henson and Erma Bombeck passed way too soon.

It is partially the age. Muppets was never on. Looney Toons was on Saturday mornings, but I just didn't care for them. If I knew Tom and Jerry would be on, I'd watch until Tom and Jerry, but if not, I'd turn on a movie.

Yep, that age thing. When my son was small there was very limited choices for VHS for children, movies or shorts, some Looney, Mickey's a few classics. Fastforward 5 years when my DD was born and there was all sorts of stuff.
At the same time the cable boom hit. Channels and options exploded (as did the cost of cable) The same was for computers with my DS. We had our first one when he was in elementary school, where my DD always had access to a computer. Teachers were actually learning computers at the same time the students were with my DS and kids were excited about computers while a chunk of the teachers were afraid they'd mess them up. It took our district almost 10 years to get the entire staff to stop fighting it. The frustration over e-mail and floppy disks let alone online grade books. All the norm a decade later. My sons era was so drastically different than my DDs.

Yeah, she thinks it was a weed out initial interview from possibly the HR department as there was many conflicting answers to her questions. She liked the job. what she'd like to do but is cautious given the amount of travel and overnighting was conflicting along with a salary position, no overtime and at times 40-60 hours a week and including weekends. That part was driven home. We shall see how the next interview goes but she is guarded.

This should be the end of jobs like this. Salaries based on a 40 hour week but tacking on another 20 hours of free labor. The presidents executive order to the US Labor Board should go into effect in 2015 fixing stuff like that.

Your daughter, indeed, sounds much smarter than her years would indicate. :)
I have never let myself fall into the "salary trap" in my entire life. Even, back in the day, when the firm I now work for again, had every single other employee on salary they never even approached me, 'cause they already knew I wouldn't go for it. As you stated above, I saw too many folks gettin' paid for the 40 and doin' the 60-ish. Obviously, I ain't the sharpest knife in the drawer, but there is no way I will ever go for that BS.
I get paid (and the wage is way more than fair for my experience and position) for the hours I produce. Nothing more (other than quarterly performance bonuses ;)), nothing less. As it should be. IMHO, anyway.

I remember Cartoon Network used to show all the old Looney Toons on either Saturday or Sunday mornings throughout the 90s. That was how I was introduced to them. Our mall used to also have a WB store. It was like the Disney stores, but there was a play area in the back involving different things from the old cartoons. So that always made me want to check out the old cartoons when I could find them on TV (As long as they didn't conflict with my other morning cartoons).

Yeah, this really got out of whack and I am happy to see it being corrected as it has become over the years and especially after the last recession abused. Before I opened my business I was salaried but I got overtime after 40. But if we took more time off than we were entitled to, it came off. Neither really happened much, we'd pretty much comp our own time one way or the other and I worked for a German company which gave everyone 4 weeks vacation from the first anniversary, 2 weeks sick time, 5 personal days so I was hard pressed when I added in my comp days to ever think of having my salary adjusted downward. Plus I had 12 vacation days and if I had to work one, which happened from spring till Thanksgiving some years, I'd get 2 days off to replace the one or double time.

I really liked the stuff they carried in the WB Stores in the mall. It was kinda like the Mega store in DTD, a little bit of everything for everyone and that is when the Disney Stores carried great merchandise from watches, excellent books, high to low end collectibles. I so miss that.

I didn't want to buy anything. I just wanted to play in the Marvin the Martian spaceship and do whatever the game thing was.

We did not always have Cartoon Network or the Disney Channel. They were considered premium channels when my son was small. We were not home much, we both worked and he was at Daycare. I didn't mind him watching TV but our time in the evenings were a premium so we did other things over him watching TV. But in the mornings there was Bugs and Popeye, his favorite when he was real small, then to be replaced by the Turtle obsession.

My DD self entertained. From little she'd sit on the floor as I got us all ready to bolt in the morning and flip through books. Same Mom & Dad, two very different kids.
