My WDW traveling companion and BFF (SIL) was here this evening, and mentioned that she may have to bail on our annual trip in 2014. She has an amazing opportunity to do a Holy Land/Egypt tour w/her church for the same $$ as Disney.

This lifted a huge weight from my shoulders, as this is the year I want to go to Cali for the first time. I am slowly introducing the idea to hubby as he hates change. SIL wholeheartedly endorses hubby and I going west this year, figuring it all out, and then taking her next year.

Ladies and Gentlemen, I do believe I have a new obsession!

DLR is AWESOME!!! Haven't been there since '10, though. Carsland was still under construction and WoC was a week shy of soft openings. We lived in NoCal from '68-'76, so my first visit to DL was in '68. California was an awesome place to live back then. We were ALL over that state like ugly on me! :cyclops: :D
DEFINITELY GO!!!!!!!

Yeah, I just need to hit the button to optimize all of the photos. It's a new iPod, and I never took photos with my old one, so still getting used to it.
Perhaps you're using "low quality" as the camera prefect?

Just wait until you see it. It's, um, short. Less than half the size of WDW's castle:joyfull:. It does not, and probably never will, have the "wow" factor of the WDW castle.
I think each park as something unique that identifies them.

MK as its castle.
disneyland as the mickey mouse square (and world of color's mickey wheel? )

Yes, but Universal Hollywood has a couple of things that are well worth the trip. It is an actual working studio with sets and back lots that have been used over and over and seen in countless movies. That tram tour alone is worth the trip. The Park is on two levels that are extreme in elevation. The escalator up and down is also almost as much of an attraction as any other thing that is there. Universal Florida is an amusement/theme park very well done and concentrated with attractions. Universal Hollywood is a studio first and an amusement/theme park as an added attraction. I like Florida, but, like Disneyland vs. Disney World each has it's own purpose and interests. DL because Walt walked the streets vs. the massive vacation resort of WDW. Uni Florida is an imaginative theme/amusement park with thrills, spectacular shows and well done attractions (not all thrills) vs. Uni Hollywood where all those movies were actually made, not pretend to have been.
very well put!

speaking of DL.. I wonder if someday I will visit there.

Has anyone taken their tree down yet?
My dad likes to put a tree up in the basement in front of the patio doors/windows so it can be seen down the street. He took that down this morning. Our main tree is still up, probably to be taken down on NYE or NY Day.

We leave ours up til NY, but it's already dropping needles, so I'm getting anxious to take it down. We'll keep it up for the party tomorrow, but after that I'm hoping DH will let me take it down.

Working on the logistics of bill-paying while we're away this winter. Just about done, but my head is spinning. Packing starts this week!!!!

I'll try to take mine down probably the weekend after New Years. The branches are drooping, but it hasn't been too bad with dropping needles and its still drinking. If the needles were brittle, I would be more worried.
Ours is still taking water too, so it's OK - I'm just a little anxious to get my house back I guess.

We here wait until the "wise king"(biblical magi) day to remove the tree.
a lot of people in my country receive/give the gifts on this day, and not on the 25th of december.

The outdoor lights came down today because it was warmer weather (before we drop to the teens and below for the next week or so). The high is 34 today! Time to get my swim trunks and flip flops and hit the beach!
