You know what's funny?
Can't 'like' that post. Poor pumpkin, what's the matter?

She picked up a fever last night. Got that under control but could not take her to day care so I left work earlier than I planned to come home so DW could go to work. Poor baby was so sad and grumpy all day. Good thing is she is sleeping well. Hopefully she will be back to her normal, goofy, and talkative self tomorrow.

Illinois finally got itself a Rocket Fizz! About 30 minutes north of my Mom's. On the agenda.

When I was a little girl there was a tiny store near where I lived that was similar in concept to a 7/11 however maybe a 1/3 the size. It had two glass counter cases filled with penny candy. You'd point to what you wanted and they'd put it in a tiny paper brown bag.

By what I'm seeing at Rocket Fizz they might have some of those candies of yesteryear. :hungry:

See, that is what you get for saying you were not going to get your 1/2 day Friday. ;)

Hope the little tyke is better tomorrow. It's rough when they are small, then if you have another tyke they share, but likely never get it at the same time, so you miss twice the time at work. I sure don't miss those days juggling work and young family. When my son was small the daycare could not shake pink eye. I can't tell ya how many times my kid picked it up in a few months. I finally took Mr. Pink Eye with me to work, sat him on my office floor and closed the door. Out of 99 kids in his daycare he was the only one that didn't get chicken pox, neither did my DD. When the vaccine came out, they got it right away.

Do you remember when "penny candy" was mostly 2 or 3 for a penny?

For instance these were 4/penny:

Mojos were 3/penny:

As were these:

Pixie Stix, Kraft caramels and those light and dark hard fudge squares were 2/penny:

Boy, oh boy, if you had a dime, you could buy yourself a big old belly ache.
And a cavity or two every check up.

Walter's a hoot!
Love 'im...! :)

It has warmed up slightly and after his walk he went over to his pool yesterday and shot me a look. I had emptied his pool. Fixed that before this mornings walk. Yep, out of all the Pups I've had he has the quirkiest personality. My girl golden retriever use to lay down in the water and if the turtle was in it she Bobbed for Turtle. Exercise for both.

I can't wait to go play in the piles of old fashioned candy. The little things in life.

Yes, we do love Walt. I burst out laughing when he gave you the infamous, "dog look" (all dogs get that look) because you had emptied his pool! Hilarious!! C'mon, you know that dogs can't deal with any CHANGE in their routine or favorite haunts. :hilarious: One time, I moved my dog's little scatter rug to the opposite end of the hallway. He started pacing up and down the hall, panting (like he was close to a convulsive state), and just totally messed up from the new location! :p :D

EDIT: I need to stop drinking those quadruple shot espressos I the morning like I did before I wrote the below post.

One thing people don't know about me (and I'm revealing right now) is that I can see the future. Not all the time. I can't do it on demand (i.e. all these people out there claiming to be psychics are fakes). Just at times (very, very rarely), I get an epiphany (either awake or in a dream) of a future event. These are unlike creative visions which require imagination (I get those too) but are experienced like memories are sometimes in that you get this sense you were actually there. They are best described as "memories" but in the future tense. I know this is difficult to understand (I've been trying to understand it most of my life and still don't really understand it). I have a theory why it happens but it won't be understood until mainstream science takes it seriously and studies it fully. There have been some very basic science done that basically says future events can influence the present but the study did not explore any theory as to how it can happen. I'll spare everyone what my theory is as it can get very long winded and requires a discussion about Quantum Mechanics and the true nature of the Universe. Way too deep of a subject for here...

Any way, I brought this up to share my latest prediction. 2015 will be known as the year the "future came and gone." That will be a key phrase people (historians?) will say when they reflect on the year that was 2015. Don't expect this phrase to be used as soon as 2015 ends. It could be some time after 2015, maybe years after. It will be used similarly to how today we look back at how people were dressed during the 70's and 80's and say "what we're we thinking?"[/QUOTE

Well, I'm glad that at least one of us understands Quantum Mechanics, and the true nature of the universe, because I haven't a clue. Regretfully, I'm not as deep as you are.

However, as for being able to see into the future, you have a kindred spirit here with me. This phenomenon usually manifests itself in my mind about every Thursday or so: I have this spiritual vision whereby I can see the bacon sizzling in the pan with the eggs, and bread in the toaster, for Sunday morning breakfast. Like yourself, I don't understand my epiphany either. o_O

In conclusion, this was one of your more intriguing/complex posts to date (there have been many . . . :)), and as @JenniferS mentioned, it may have something to do with the quadruple espresso shots you had before you wrote it?!

That is what my DS girlfriend does.

Help is welcomed. haha seriously I wouldn't mind the Chicago area or anywhere near a city in the Midwest. I would love to stay on the East Coast though or go to Europe. That's why England needs to take back New England. It would make immigration easier.

So I looked up Rocket Fizz and it looks like the candy shop you see in Willy Wonka. Bacon Cotton Candy sounds horrid disgustingly god awful bad. And if these shops ever come East, they have to get rid of the word soda pop. But pretty much I try to stay away from candy. It's best I don't buy it. A bag of Reese's will be gone in minutes. Hard candy though I do not like.

The return of the candy store is booming here in Pittsburgh. Especially with old fashioned style candies and new yum things like chocolate bacon it's a huge business right now!

It's pig roast day! The day that all the rednecks in the 'burgh gather in my redneck neighbors yard and cook them a pig on a spit. The pig bringing in ceremony (5guys carrying the pig, one guy blowing a trumpet, I kid you not) has already taken place and the corpse is on the spit and dear lawd it smells good.

This party will rage on from around 3,4 pm to somewhere around 5 am. Pig, food, beer, more pig, lots of beer, a bounce house (can't see how this could possibly go bad) and more pig. Woohoo!

I'm gettin my redneck on later. Kicking off the day with a trip to the flea market, because it's only fitting.
