I have an AOL email as well. I use it when I need to use an email for a (legitimate) website I don't purchase from often. Then the spam skyrockets.
My husband was once having one of his stomach episodes (this was one of the first ones) and was in severe pain, dehydrated and throwing up. We called his gastro. The receptionist took a message and said the doctor would call back. 4 hours later, contemplating going to the ER, we called again. The woman was nasty, said she already took a message, he was extremely busy and would call when he had a break. I called hubby's urologist for advice since he's awesome and has been hubby's doctor since the cancer in his 20's, and he said to go to the ER and he would have his friend, a gastro doctor, meet us at the hospital. The urologist (who looks like Tony Soprano) was at the ER when we got there and started (nicely) directing traffic and getting hubby looked at. When I told my mom what happened, she called her friend who is VERY friendly with the gastro doctor to see what was going on in that office. The friend replied that he WASN'T EVEN THERE - his family was on vacation in Montauk. He was furious when he returned and heard the story. He called to speak with me to apologize for his staff and I politely told him I appreciated the call, and thanked him for being so concerned, but explained that we would no longer be returning to his office.
