@englanddg If/when you have a moment...

I was going out earlier today. Right before I left, I was listening to music on iTunes on my laptop. Suddenly, the music stopped. I figured the program froze (odd for it to randomly freeze when I wasn't using it otherwise) so I ended the program and put the laptop in sleep. Or so I thought; I was in a hurry and didn't make sure it went into sleep. I came back and there was a black bios screen up that told me there was a boot error and there was no OS. I turned it off and it restarted, slowly, but it restarted. Any idea what the problem was and what, if anything, I need to do to fix it?

Thank you for calling Saget Technical Support. My name is Hajeeb, and I will be helping you today to solve your computer technical issues.

Seriously though...Did you have any USB devices plugged into it?

Every now and then systems will just freeze and a clean reboot (not going to sleep, but an actual shut down and restart) resolves things. If it doesn't become a common occurrence, and a reboot fixed it, I wouldn't worry too much about it.

Lol,

Yes, my iPod was plugged in. It seems okay. If it starts happening more I'll worry. I think it was jealous that I've been using my tablet more. ;)

Thanks a bunch as usual.

No worries. Yeah, every now and the Windows poops out with USB devices that have or are hard drives.

Basically, the BIOS (the screen that loads before windows loads) will occasionally try and boot off the USB device. That's most likely the "No OS Detected" message you got.

Just unplug any USB devices, restart, and generally Windows will start behaving again. If it doesn't, then there is a need for concern...but if it does, and it doesn't happen often...no worries.

How's the cruise going?

So I decided to watch "Shark After Dark Live" tonight, and their "shark correspondent" named Bob the Shark (which resembles the name "Bob Saget") gave the Sharknado actors a pitch for a new movie. His idea was to combine sharks and potatoes and make a Sharktato. That resembles Spuds.

I think the producers of this show have been reading this thread...

It is possible. Google Sharknado, and this thread appears pretty high in the results!

Darth Tater would approve though, and should sue for royalties!

No joke...

We had a gustnado in Florida. This is a real thing, where the air near the ground (but not coming down from above) swirls like mad. It picked up beach chairs and garbage cans, etc., twirled them around for a bit and tossed them off.

They actually call it a "gustnado" and I couldn't help but think of you all when I learned of it. :D

Also, those of you bragging about your cool weather will be receiving payback in a few months!!!

This is considered warm 8 or 9 out of 12 months in Wisconsin. :p
