Chinese-Underground-Quarry-Hotel.jpg

Construction is starting on the below ground hotel in China complete with waterfall.

undergroundhotel5.jpg

Developed by Shanghai Shimao Property Group, under the management of InterContinental Hotels Group, this underground hotel is expected to extend 19 stories into the bottom of an abandoned quarry, located in Tianmashan. Measuing 100 meters deep, 240 meters long, and 160 wide, this pit has been abandoned since the year 2000, and recently construction begun on the high-end hotel, named InterContinental Shimao Shanghai Wonderland, at the foot of Tianma Mountain It’s boasted to be 19 stories tall (or 19 stories deep?), containing 380 rooms, and an underwater restaurant.

China is coming up with some imagineering as of late.

OK follow along here:

  1. You have a big hole in the ground.
  2. You build a hotel inside the hole.
  3. You add a waterfall to start filing the hole with water.

Ever wonder how they makes ponds and lakes? You skip step # 2

It's because I'm Canadian, right?

Speaking of which, where was @Goofyernmost today?
How Canadian of you to notice, eh! Nothing dramatic just different. I finally got around to reading the book "Disney Wars" and frankly the thing was fascinating to me. It's hard to tell how much of it is fact and how much is hearsay, but, wow, the dysfunctional life of a major corporation, with semi insane, egotistical butts at the helm. For the second time ever I found a book that I couldn't put down. The first was The Godfather (pre-movie). It is absolutely amazing to me that Disney still exists. It sure does explain a lot though. Unfortunately, it ends just before Eisner left and doesn't explain how Iger got the job. It sure didn't seem like it was going that way previous to that point.

@Nemo14 hasn't been around the last couple days either. Hope everything is okay with her.
Wait... could it be possible? I mean what are the chances that we are the same people? I'd be flattered, but, I'm not sure she would. ;)

Three pages behind but wanted to post...

This has got to be the strangest Gatorade flavor I've ever had. It's lime cucumber. I don't know if I like it or hate it. It's...odd.

And smells (and tastes) like cucumbers. Think cucumber water.

o_O
So I can't help but wonder how the idea for that flavor combination just came to someone? At a picnic after too many margaritas?

That dinner sure looks yummy. Plus, Daisy gave it her paw of approval—that rating alone convinced me it must be delicious! I also found it amusing that Daisy loves bananas; sometimes it's surprising the types of food that dogs go for. (That's another really cute picture of Daisy, by the way. I tend to think that dogs are more photogenic than many people!)

Well... I definitely like dogs more than most people.

Daisy loves fruit and veggies, but probably because I raised her (from 6 weeks old!) on it. I started her out on smashed peas and carrots with rice and lamb and gradually added strawberries, bananas, peaches and mangos to her diet. I slowly switched her to a grain free dry dog food around 7-8 months old, but still gave her fruits and veggies.

Beagles are 'at risk' of being heavily overweight and I don't want that to happen to her. So I measure out her kibble and watch what she eats. I follow the old rule, "if the dog is fat, feed it less. If the dog is skinny, feed it more" but always give her half of whatever fruit/veggie I'm eating. She goes apepoop for strawberries and bananas. :)

She's 27 lbs, and for her size and breed, she should be around 20-25 lbs. It's a constant struggle as she's all nose and LOVES food.

Anyhow, yeah, the sliders were really good but I got a horrible case of heartburn today. I suspect it's the Gatorade I was drinking this morning until I decided that I don't like it. The post above was sitting on my ipad from 7 AM and I wasn't able to post it... but it went through now. what the heck?

Another quick Mom story:
Our "guest room" for her is actually our son's former bedroom, so a lot of his stuff is still on the bookshelves (including an entire collection of Star Wars M&M people - don't ask) and on the walls. On the wall next to his bed is a picture of John Glenn in his Mercury spacesuit, which the astronaut himself personally signed for him. It's hung on that wall for many years, but apparently Mom just noticed it last night or this morning. While I was helping her get dressed this morning she told me how my father had taken that picture of his brother when they were both in the service.

It is a safety mechanism for guard against fire. Think like the big pumps for Typhoon Lagoon wave pool. The water keeps recirculating from the bottom to the waterfall. If it rains the excess is omitted into the sewer system pretty much the basic way in ground pools have been dealing with rainfall since after WW2. They were around before that the issues were not quite worked out yet.

How Greek is your Greek yogurt? Hello again NY, a couple of guys are suing both Chobani and Fage for unspecified damages since they are calling their your Greek but it is made in the US, so it isn't Greek and not manufactured by Greek Nationals.

No comment yet Fage but Chobani says they believe the fans of their yogurt comprehend much like French Fries and English Muffins it is how they are made not where they are made.

And I thought Illinois was nuts. :banghead:
