I also forgot to tell you guys something. You remember that ash tray looking bowl thing I made? Well, my professor had little meeting with each of us, and when she looked at the picture of mine, she said "wow, that's really good!" What she didn't realize is I took the very best angle of it and it looks 50 times worse in person.

I would never ever ever put my name on that letter, let alone sign it.
Yes, because kindergarten is the EXACT RIGHT TIME to prepare for college and career. Forget coloring, let's write some memos!

Yep, one of the many reasons I would not have signed the letter or put my name on it. They had to know it would please nobody but staff. My boards goal was never to start anything controversial that could gain national attention. I wonder why the district doesn't believe that learning to speak or perform before large crowds of people is not a skill that need to be learned. Few professions or colleges don't require some type of requirement to speak before groups of students or people. To me Communication is a skill that is best taught from young.

Here is the story that is trending nationwide now. I heard it on the Chicago News this evening:

Perhaps those people who signed that letter would have done better to go back and learn proper sentence structure. There is no excuse for any letter coming from a school, BOE or Dept. of Education to contain improper English.

It's the only "talk show" I watch. :D

I would have never thought anyone on this board is a metal head (except me)! That's awesome :D

Kindergarten was my favorite year in school. We could color, have stories read to us, sing songs, make art projects, jump rope, play games, and have milk and cookies.

I even remember one day they took us outside to plant tulip bulbs in the ground (the janitor had dug the holes and we each put in a bulb), in front of the school. Another time, they took us across the street to a little brook, and we watched the water flow downstream, while the teacher told us about fish and plants in the area. Both of those experiences were big fun for little kids.

Sure, this was a long time ago, but kindergarten should still be learning at a more leisurely pace. I think the key element of kindergarten is learning social skills with the other children.

I agree. Sure since Sesame Street and Day Care Centers emerged many students are a bit farther ahead and state standards do come into play with pressure on school districts but come on! Talking College to Kindergarten parents? She lost all respectability with that one. Little shows goes under the caption of communication skills and acclimation to people of all ages outside the home and immediate classroom. A life and educational skill that is needed in most professions including teaching.

That letter is beyond snarky. It also comes from the desk of the Interim Principal. Know one thing, if we had an Interim Principal that wrote such a poor letter to the parents and chose to be that condescending to the tax payers of that district, no way would they become the permanent Principal. Good luck to her in her administrative endeavors. She had her Moment in the Sun and it will haunt her forever in cyber-world. Foolish.

Three of the nine items have been checked off the list for Tuesday! Unfortunately they were smaller things, but they needed to be checked off at some point! Hoping to get three more checked off tomorrow. Then my plan is to check the remaining three off either this weekend or Monday.

Taking a backseat until I get all this done is an 8-10 page paper that's due a week from Monday that I should really get working on, but if I try to do it on top of all this other stuff I know I'll get burned out quickly.

Gosh I love finals!
