Oh my goodness. I thought I had seen commercials get as explicit as possible. Wrong.

Bless everyone raising small children that thought TVLD was safe territory in the evening. Wow, just Wow.
considering the content and raw shock factor of many channels.. primarily "news" channels.. id say kids will never be safe unless parents monitor them.

HAH, I love news like these.. I still think the onion network makes better spoofs ;)
Pfft. Kids. Not appreciating great technology

blast from the past!

anyone remember the CDs version? they had to invent anti--skip technology to make them reliable when running.

I do. I wanted one when I was about 8 right as iPods and MP3 players were becoming popular. My dad in his wisdom decided that an 8 year old did not need an iPod. I had the Disney Mix Stick.

And then in middle school, the Mix Max

They were nice for just plain playing music. The Mix Max lasted 5 years. Then I got an iPod Touch in High School.

My senior year Spanish teacher still has students record speaking exams with the tapes.

My master bath is all white tile, grout and all. Yep, I did that too. It does come out of the grout.

Instructions
    • 1
Soak a paper towel in non-acetone nail polish remover.

    • 2
Place the paper towel on the grout and press it down firmly so it’s making contact with the entire stain.
    • 3
Leave the paper towel on the grout for three to five minutes to soften the nail polish.

    • 4
Dip an old toothbrush in the nail polish remover and gently scrub the area until the stain is gone.

    • 5
Rinse the area with clean water.

OMG thank you!!!

Still have my cassette walkman. Used it just 2 years ago at a Marching Band competition where they were still using cassettes for the judges to record comments. Since then it has been sitting on my desk getting dusty. I still have a rack of over 1000 cassettes in the basement. It is still the original walkman that I got in 1987 and used on the bus every morning and afternoon of high school.

I also still have my CD walkman. However, it is broken. I used it mowing the lawn for 5 or 6 years. Obviously didn't last the same 25+ years as the cassette one.

For the past 20 years as a music teacher, I have always recorded playing assessments. It was about 5 years ago that I switched from cassettes to a digital recorder. Now the students have the option to record at home and email them to me.

Talk about a quick path to feeling old...

And just a couple hours ago I met up for dinner with a couple of guys I have been friends with since middle school in the early 80s. We called it our 30th-ish anniversary dinner.

We did so many speaking assignments that it would be, as my Spanish teacher used to say, una tontería to try to get the computer labs all the time for recording. We had take home speaking assignments. The kids who couldn't or didn't want to record them electronically got tape recorders.

@brifraz You gave playing assignments? Wow. Never had those in chorus nor orchestra. Of course chorus was a joke... (If you see Mr. W, do NOT tell him I said that! ;) )

I consider my playing assessments to be the easiest thing ever. Usually just scales or songs that we have done in class tons of times. I find it tragically disappointing that every kid doesn't get a perfect score!

My mom still has AND USES one of those. She only uses the FM for exercising, but still. I've gotten her mostly switched over to Pandora on her iPad. Mostly. We also still have a record player and 8 track player.

Record player is still in regular use. As is our VCR. We have a couple boxes of 8-tracks, but no working player. Been looking for a couple years into selling our 8-tracks on Ebay.

In orchestra we occasionally had to privately play scales. Not recorded though. I have found from Journalism that having a recorder freaks out some kids, but if you record using something electronic, they're like "Oh yup, that's fine."o_O In chorus, never. We probably needed it; there were a couple of times the entire tenor section was off and even the teacher didn't notice until I pointed it out in class. If I pointed it out in sectionals they would tell me I was wrong. :banghead: I'm like, "C'mon now, I read music! This is wrong!"
